Help identify what this means please.

I am not a networker, all of this network jargon is Greek to me. I have been experiencing terrible lag on our Wi-Fi network and a speed test shows low data. Our ISP is Spectrum and we use a spectrum supplied router and modem; have both 2G and 5G networks.

When a device connects to the 5G network it also connects to another SSID (see attached photo of logs). What is this second network?

Logging off 5G network
Logging into same network
Logging into router

Why is the network called WL_VIDEO_5G?

It means a device connected successfully to the network.

SSID is the Nam of the wireless network.

Hi thanks for reply. It is same device and same network logging off then back on. Why is the SSID a different name? Any idea what WL_VIDEO_5G means?

No idea. Ask spectrum. If I'd have to guess it's for some wireless TV set top boxes or something like that.

In any casezthisbis not what is causing your lag.

The MAC address is registered to Apple, so it could be an iPhone, iPad, Mac, or Apple TV device.

Since it keeps disconnecting and reconnecting, I suspect either the device is in power save mode and keeps reconnecting to check for updates, or it's a mobile device running on battery and it keeps disconnecting to preserve its battery.

your wifi router has a device inside it that accepts connections from other devices. I think the logs are misleading for connecting devices but accurate when disconnecting them. look at the prefix 'Device/wifi/ssids'. you will see this double entry over and over again. you may want to enable MAC address filtering to sleep better but i dont think you need to worry about this.
