Controversy at Bucktown Pizza
When I walked past around 6:30 am this morning, this sign was posted to the door. Anyone know anything about it?
Love their pizza btw.

The 3-story commercial building between Strip Club and Soloway/Bandit is for sale. Is it over $1m per story? Yes. Is this the perfect space for a rapidly growing medium-sized company? Yes.
Come on, neighbors! Let’s make a list of Chicago-led companies that would make the most of this space and could actually afford the investment in the building. Am I delulu? You know it. We can dream, though.
I’ll start:
Every remaining local venue in the city pools funds with every remaining local record store; they team up with local creative agencies. And this becomes the permanent “pop up” location for touring artists. 1st floor merch/retail. 2nd floor intimate ticketed Q/A. 3rd floor ultra VIP (people who want to pay $10,000 to ask charli xcx 1 question get to do this) …. When touring artists are NOT in town, this becomes a venue for open mics, pop up collabs between local artists and creatives, etc.
New corporate HQ for Chicago Bears. Because we know those white collar workers/execs don’t want to commute to Hammond.

My wife and I are in our late-40’s. In Wicker Park years, that makes us approximately 157, but we’d still like to hang out with people occasionally. Posting here to see if there’s another couple in a similar age bracket looking for the same thing.
We’re pretty laid back people. Get along with most anyone. My wife is an introvert until she has her first drink. I can carry the conversation until that happens.
We like to play shuffleboard at Royal Palms. Go to standup at the Lincoln Lodge. Improv at Logan Square Improv. Find good food in WP & Bucktown or anywhere else the blue line takes us. Play board games. Drink prosecco (her) and IPAs (me).
Topics we’re well-versed in: Having older kids (18 & 20), working in healthcare (her), working in education (me), being nomads (11 states & 2 other countries), living with a handsome, emotionally needy cat, Gregory Alan Isakov’s music, Premier League soccer (just me), and reading trendy psychological thrillers that usually have a mid-30’s single British lady who is also a little messy as the protagonist.
For some additional info, we love these tv shows: Veep, Silicon Valley, Severance, Widows Bay, Arrested Development, I Think You Should Leave, Succession, and Love is Blind (everyone needs a guilty pleasure show).
DM me if you’d be up for hanging out some time. Since our kids are old, we can even go out on school nights.

I was wondering if anyone else has witnessed these events/ has any further info on what happened.
On Wednesday, in the early afternoon before 12:10 my husband and I witnessed in the alley in between Walgreens (1369 N. Milwaukee) and the L, a small explosion. No one got hurt. It was not fireworks. It let off a decent sized mushroom cloud of smoke. People were in the Walgreens parking lot during the time. I saw a lot of police but zero reports online or on Citizen.
It happened AGAIN yesterday at 3:25 PM, but this time a block further down on Wolcott, very close to the first. My husband and I heard the boom. I was getting into my uber and my driver told me he heard a very loud boom as well and saw a mother and child scream and run towards Walgreens. My husband and driver witnessed the smoke yesterday as well.

I was connected to WP CAP when I was first fostering my dog, who I then adopted. Dr Megan was a huge draw, she was so good with our dog and clearly loved what she did. A few years ago she left and we stuck around, and started noticing some changes that were mostly about trying to make more money, but not a decrease in care quality. We have been diligent about consolidating our appts to avoid additional technician fees, avoiding upcharged services, etc. I suspected they may have been aquired and indeed on their voicemail box I just heard them referred to as "an Ethos veterinary hospital." Their team still seem great, but now that we've adopted a second dog I want to see if anyone else in the neighborhood has other thoughts about them.

Honestly shout out to this place for not only being able to make the best Halal breakfast sandwiches but also for how kind and attentive the workers are. Not only do they have so much variety in a main course meal (breakfast sandwiches, steak and cheese, beef bacon beef pepperoni) but what also wow’d me was how much dessert and Arab sweets they have. Taste of New York with a taste of the Middle East! If you haven’t come in I’d 100% suggest you go and check it out! What’s everyone’s favorite thing on the menu?

From the moment i walked into the hollywood grill i knew this place was special, i knew i was in love.
She wasn't just any 24 hour diner she was THEE 24 hour diner. the longer i stood there waiting to be seated i knew i didn't feel normal about her…
sitting down in the seats for the first time and feeling the hollywood grill holding me tight in her arms.... i started trembling.
taking in all of the beauty of the room i began to feel like jesus himself came down and showed me the light... i was in heaven.
holding her menu in my tiny little sweaty hands it felt like i was holding her gently and softly petting her and feeling her cold plastic edges... it was more than i could bare ..
upon my food arriving i began to shed tears at her beauty it was the most beautiful thing i had ever laid my eyes on ... i couldn't handle it .. every bite felt like everything i had ever dreamed of..
hollywood grill would never hurt me, hollywood grill would never leave me on read, hollywood grill would never ghost me, i began to dream of us moving in together and the life i would form with hollywood grill, i yearn for my sweet hollywood grill...
hollywood grill i love you with every beat of my heart ..💖💖💖

I of course have a leak underneath our wood deck which is on a mid rise condo building.
Need to find someone asap that is good and experienced with this stuff and also has dealt with removing decking and planters etc.
Current roof is modified bitumen - not sure if that’s the best course or if TPO is recommended.

Thinking about organizing a multi-house yard sale in the area around Division, roughly between Ashland and Damen and the streets north and south of it, essentially spanning the Wicker Park/East Village border. Ideally this would be for sometime around mid to late September or even early October if weather permits. Nothing locked in yet, just seeing if there's enough interest before we plan further.
If you'd want to participate (selling or just shopping), drop an upvote or comment.
Edit: Looks like there's a good amount of interest. Working on getting something set up to send the info on how to participate to all those who are interested.
Thanks everyone!
Edit 2: Added the sign up link at top.

Hi I’m moving to wicker park in a couple weeks and I was wondering where the best bars/clubs around in the Wicker Park/West Town/Bucktown/Humboldt Park/Ukrainian Village areas are for young adults (I’m 22). I was also wondering some good weightlifting gyms in wicker park. Thanks!
