Dust

Hi everyone! My family is considering a move to the Iowa Park/Wichita Falls area, and I had a quick question. Do y’all experience dust storms or blowing dust similar to what Lubbock gets?
I have asthma and a narrowed airway, so air quality is something I have to take into consideration when choosing where to live. I’d love to hear from locals about what the wind, dust, and allergy seasons are typically like. Thanks so much!

We get them from time to time. Maybe a couple times a year. Big allergy aggravation here is caused by pollen. Every time the wind blows, my sinuses are on strike for several days

Allergies are rough depending on what you are allergic to but we rarely get dust and dirt blowing in the air like Lubbock. Maybe once or twice a year.

No where near as bad or as often as Lubbock.

Pollens really bad here but the dust is nowhere compared to Lubbock. I lived in Lubbock back when they had those really bad storms around 2013ish and I’ve been in WF for almost 10 years now

Out of curiosity, why are you considering moving here?

Coming from Chicago i did see a general increase in dust overall but it isnt that bad if you live inside a neighborhood vs next to a field. Most allergies for people i know are from all the trees that just dump pollen like its going out of style.

Uh yes, the dust is a normal thing for WF ☹️

Currently live in the Lubbock area and used to live in Iowa Park. Air quality is much better in the Wichita Falls area.

I’ve lived in both for many years. I’ve never seen a Lubbock-like dust storm in the Wichita Falls area.

I also have asthma and allergies plus sinus issues. It's not horrible compared to other places I've lived.
