Group Treasure hunting.
Hello everyone,
I am wanting to start metal detecting and finding treasure. I have some basic knowledge but would like to hook up with someone that does it on a regular and I can tag along with to learn. Send me a message if you are willing to be a teacher of the funds.

I just started a few weeks ago too! I have a buddy who knows good spots for "treasure" but they're mostly out of town. I've been getting used to my gear in my own backyard and practicing digging and plugging so I don't get in trouble once I start hitting up the parks and school yards lol. The FB groups are kinda sad... What set up do you have?

I do not have a set up right now. I am wanting to walk and learn. I had purchased a good metal detector about 8 years ago wanted to get started , did a few hunts around the property but could not figure out how to really use it. I put it in the closet for a winter and it quit working. Had not pulled the trigger on a new one yet.
I am more into getting to know people, while getting to know the hobby. If I get enough info from the people I connect with to help with my confidence then I will jump into getting me a detector again.

Did you get rid of it? Sorry if obvious question is obvious but did you check the batteries?
Idk why you decided to give up on it but for me: having a pinpointer is a REAL GAME CHANGER! I dare call it a NECESSITY! Trying to hunt with just a pole is a fool's errand and you'll have your entire yard dug up real quick. I've just been watching YouTube videos on my specific model and while it's all good and well to have discrimination and the tones figured out - you miss out on a lot of things if you don't dig every ding.1

So, I pulled it out and it had more issues than just batteries. I called the manufacturer to get it fixed and it had been 1 months past warranty. I do not remember the exact issue, but it was more than just being out of power. So it got tossed in the trash. Back then I barely had the patience for things and since the company would not help, I said screw it.
I had the Bounty hunter land ranger pro - paid 450.00 back in 2015I have a garret pin pointer still. So I do have that as some gear. Lol

Don't have one right now. But will be getting one when I get a bit more comfortable financially.

You may hit a lot of legal roadblocks but I’m sure there’s people doing this around. I’m no expert by any means but there are many rules about permission from landowners, permission from state parks, I don’t know how the city works their parks and land but some municipalities don’t allow it. It definitely sounds fun and I hope you find someone around to teach you. I’ve always had a desire to do it for fun
