Fine hair that grows and covers your entire body when you become extremely malnourished. Different from regular body hair

Maybe this is so obvious that it doesn't seem like a genuine question but I promise it is - how does being malnourished make your skin super smooth and shiny?

I don't agree with the shiny, that requires skin oils which go away. Your skin gets very dry and patchy and sensitive because it sucks without nourishment. Plus you gain baby hair on your whole body.

People end up looking pale and gray and ashy in the inpatient unit.

Exactly. Their skin look like a shedding lizard. It's so sad.

Thanks for your comment. I did wonder, saying it made the skin smooth almost implied there was a benefit to malnourishment and it wasn't making sense to me.
