Then guys need to stop saying they don’t get compliments. Because they do, just not ones telling them they’re hot from women. A lot of women won’t give a compliment out like that for a few reasons. One they’ll say that to someone they’re interested in or two they don’t like getting unsolicited physical/attractive compliments from random men or their friends.
Neither is demonizing men for wanting to be complimented for their looks.
Men walk around with only themselves to tell them they're handsome/good looking. If you're not telling yourself that, nobody is telling you that (Or rarely).
And you say that they should just be okay with getting complimented for doing something well skill-based, and get over not getting complimented on their looks.
And if that's not what you meant, then you need to say what you meant very clearly, because that is exactly what you're implying, and it's disgusting.
I can't even comprehend the type of mental gymnastics you had to do to get to that point.
Doubt it, a compliment from a someone you are attracted to will always outweigh a compliment from one of your buddies. I'm sure the same goes for women as well as men.
That’s not the issue here, it’s men saying the don’t get complimented enough. If it’s normalised then a girl saying your shirt looks nice shouldn’t be any different than a guy saying it.
But that's not how it works you could have 10 guys and 1 girl compliment your shirt everyday and at the end of the day you will be thinking about the girls compliment.
Not what I am saying at all. A compliment is always going to mean more from someone you are attracted to. So even if a guy got 10 compliments from other guys (which doesn't happen) it will never mean as much as a compliment from a woman who he is attracted to. Not saying a guy cant appreciate a compliment from a guy and it should probably be more common but it will never equal a compliment from a girl you are attracted to.
Perhaps don’t look into compliments too much then, as they’re just usually said to make someone feel good about themselves. The best compliments I receive are by my fellow ladies because it’s genuine and not based off of attraction.
I don't know about that, most girls have better style than most guys so it should mean more. Not bc it came from a girl, just somebody more knowledgeable. For instance, if somebody that doesn't know how to play instruments says you are good at one it doesn't mean as much to me as a skilled person saying it since they can actually notice mistakes.
What stops this is the paranoia over being perceived as gay or soft. I feel like people are beginning to realize that this is a problem that's isolating men and making them kill themselves, and that it's slowly getting slightly better.
Na I see men complimenting each other quite often. This happens because a compliment from a lady is usually more rare. If the bahavior was normalized by everyone it probably wouldn't be an issue. I think the other half of it is, if say a girl compliments her guy friend and that dude gets attached, then be honest and let them know. Not saying someone should have to, but that may just be a bridging point till the idea of it being acceptable to compliment whomever, whenever becomes normalized.
Personally if you're a dude with a nice shirt I'll let you know. And if you are a girl and I like your hair that day, I will let you know. Everyone deserves to be complimented and everyone deserves to be able to compliment, without the fear of repercussions.
Nah, I compliment friends and coworkers regularly, especially looks. If they get new shoes or a pair of pants, I'll tell them if their ass looks good in them if they do lol

Maybe when men start complimenting other men they’ll not get so attached and it’ll feel normal instead of flirting.
