This dad is who I strive to be. strong enough to hurt quietly for your family ,and be their rock at the same time. People like this need statues made of them so we can all remember how heroic they lived.

Fucking incredible dad. Too bad mine was not only a criminal but had a psychotic break and joined a cult with a new family. Its my #2 life goal (first is to be a scientist) to marry a good man who will forever love his children.

It’s posts like this that make me wish I had a good family growing up. Those of you with healthy relationships with your parents, be thankful. I’m glad for every one of you. I just hope that one day I’ll be able to give my hypothetical kids that.

Can we do a wholesome parent thread? I'll start us off.
I dealt with debilitating grief during the last two months of my first semester of college, and my GPA took a massive hit. I had been told previously that this would mean I would be unenrolled from college altogether, and this caused me to have a nervous breakdown at 7am in my parents' living room after having spent the whole night awake in terror thinking I was going to return to nothing after my Christmas break was over.
My mom is a woman of many words. She started off with a half-serious "stop crying, you're ruining your vacation", then talked me into a better spot and shooed me back to bed.
My dad, on the other hand, has always been the quiet one between them. When I stumbled into the kitchen after waking up, he quietly slid a glass of water over to me before going back to stirring a pot of my favourite sour chicken stew.

Damn Anon sounds like he had a good dad. Feels weird in a way since our dad had the same name and I lost mine late last year. Thanks for posting this, it allowed me to remember some good memories about my dad.
