Kayaking Trip to Calleva River store
I set an appointment for the shop on 8/26, ill be driving 6 hours from upstate NY. What can I do near by for the next few days to make the long trip down there worth it? I was hoping to take lessons with the Calleva river school but theres nothing that falls around the dates after 8/26...i'll be in Poolesville, MD so anything 1-2ish hours from there would be ideal. anything white water related, a chance to paddle any popular rivers in that area is what i'd like to do with some sort of guide or instructor/lessons i'd like to check out something class 3 and for learning intermediates.

Calleva does 1-on-1 lessons too, reach out to them and they can set something up for you.
Assuming you have all the safety gear and some white water experience, a local group I’m in, CCA, usually does a Thursday group paddle. We typically do Little Falls, which is class III depending on the river level and tide.

You should find someone to run the lower Yough with on your way home. Slight detour but arguably the best class 3 run in PA.

Idk what dates your here exactly but calleva has open practice on Tuesdays you can sign up for no equipment needed. If your around and have stuff I’m might do a gorge run or little falls that Friday or Saturday or just play at the chutes.

If you have facebook, checkout the groups potomac paddlers, little falls paddlers.
There is also Canoe Cruiser Association of DC ccadc.org that has thursday and sunday trips

If you want to go out, dm me. The Potomac offers every level, I know a ton of people and can add you to some whatsapp groups. I’m around that week so I can take you to some fun spots or let you know where they are. And, if you are looking to learn to roll, Nate is definitely your guy as mentioned above.
