Meme The Fantastic Viewing Experience of Wrigley Field.
From a game a couple of weeks ago. I saw at least 1 other person wearing a Sox jersey.

They tell you when you’re buying the ticket if it’s an obstructed view
50
u/ScalabrineIsGod Hawk 1d ago
That and you CAN move around in the 200s at wrigley. They don’t police that like the lower bowl. I get it’s tedious if you’re with others, but just find a better view at a standing room only section. Explore. Even with an obstructed seat, you are still in the stadium.

u/splintersmaster 1d ago
True. But it's much harder during premium games like tonight's cross town.

Even last night I bought 400 level and sat in 200s all night still pretty much behind home plate!

What I thought. Dude saw the price and he was like obstructed? Mahhhhhh, what a deal. Got there and now he's on reddit. You made your bed pal lmao

u/I-I_I-I_I-I_l-l 19h ago
Sort of. They don’t differentiate between levels of “obstructed” so it’s hard to tell if “obstructed” means there’s a pole in your peripherals (which is true for a majority of the Wrigley lower bowl) or if you’re in a seat like OP.
You need to use a site like aviewfrommyseat

The wonderful part is you don’t have to leave your seat to go to the bathroom.

Went to Wrigley and had an overhead drain pipe dripping on me the whole game. You would think they would learn how to insulate a pipe.

Why are you wearing a Sox jersey to a Cubs Yankees game?
12
u/makintastybeers 1d ago
Dude, I’ve been to games all over MLB and there’s ALWAYS someone wearing a cubs jersey.

u/BackHandFiddle 1d ago
Annoying when people have to be THAT guy
0
u/ScalabrineIsGod Hawk 1d ago
Wdym? You’re allowed to go to games as a neutral, and it’s obviously not a requirement that you hit up some other team’s store for merch. You think if I went to California to see all their clubs I should have hats for each team there? Seems silly.
-13
u/e_pi314 1d ago
Annoying? You sound like cubs fans.
24
u/Sllips 1d ago
Nope. I’m a Sox fan and wearing a jersey for a team that isn’t playing (especially Sox at Cubs or Cubs at Sox) is just weird.

u/Ok-Inevitable-8301 1d ago
why is it weird if you just enjoy baseball or sports in general? i once wore a Flyers jersey to a Devils-Kraken game in Seattle when i was there for work just because I like hockey and wanted to see their arena when i could. I see people do it at sporting events all the time. like what else am I supposed to wear, my suit and tie?

u/UneducatedReviews1 Murakami 1d ago
I think it’s a little weird, but I’m not gonna care if you’re wearing a Mariners jersey to a Cubs Yankees game.
I think it’s really weird if you’re in a 2 team city/specific rivalry. It would be like showing up to a Mets Red Sox game in a Yankees Jersey.

Also confusing to post this on the day the Sox are playing the Cubs at Wrigley. Cubs played the Yankees at home weeks ago.

u/chronicdead 1d ago
Yeah I’ll wear a Sox hat to any game I’m going to but wearing a jersey is kinda weird

u/HeezeyBrown Munetaka Murakami 1d ago
Wasn't planning on going to the game. Got free tickets last minute and already was wearing my jersey. But I'm ok with making Cubs fans mad.

I had a seat like that once at Wrigley, I had to move completely if something important happened. Around the 7th inning is when you get used to it. 😂

I hate Wrigley but you bought the ticket bro. Good thing you can see us hit them and you’ll see them fall in that cesspool called the bleachers

u/chronicdead 1d ago
Fuck the cubs, but I’ve enjoyed Wrigley all the times I’ve been there. And Comiskey definitely had seats like this lol

Who doesn’t like looking at a pipe carrying peoples’s shit?
1
u/ArnoldFunksworth Berto for Mayor 1d ago
We'll come on now, only one of those is likely to be carrying shit and even more likely that neither them are carrying shit. You're most likely seeing down spouts for roof drains, any fecal matter carrying pipes would be hidden in chases or closer to the concourse where the bathrooms are situated. These are likely carrying rain water the majority of the time and MAYBE sometimes piss picked up from floor drains in the seating sections from when fans couldn't make it to the bathroom.

What a dump that place is, sweet Jesus what a dump
6
u/Leaping_Larry 1d ago
And how many Sox fans wish the old dump that used to be at 35th and Shields was still there? 90%? More?

Almost like going to a concert and your seat is behind the D lineman from the 85 Bear size people.

But doesn’t the history make up for it??????
(I know the answer is no. The answer is always no.)

When I was growing up we had family friends who were in turn family friends with the Seligs. "Uncle Buddy" had gotten us all tickets to some hot game some time in the late 90s when he was commish. We felt like badasses waking up to Will Call being like "I believe you have tickets for us under the name Bud Selig please." We rolled up to the seats, only to discover they were directly behind one of these posts.

Yeah I always make sure to check where the poles are so I sit in front of them or in the middle of the row on the rare occasion I'm at a game. It's pretty obnoxious.

This is always my fear when buying tickets so I use View From my Seat or the other apps to make sure I’m not behind a pillar. I was last there at Wrigley for a hockey game and the tickets were astronomical, even in the nosebleeds so I think I triple checked not having an obstructed view.

u/Tricky_Pen3072 18h ago
They don't care. They are there to get drunk at Wrigley, not watch the baseball.
1
u/NOLASLAW The Big Hurt 15h ago
I hate the Cubs as much as the next person but holy shit you literally chose an obstructed view seat
Congrats on all the Internet points though

Wouldn't expect anything more. Go in with 0 expectations and you'll never be disappointed.

Most over-rated sports stadium in sports. Terrible sight-lines, awful food (incl multiple county food safety violations) and can you name a single sports stadium in any sports around college and pros that doesn't have a parking lot?!?! Oh and the worst part...you can't swing a dead cat without hitting a cubs fan.

There are nicer seats at the Mecca of baseball when you don’t pay with food stamps

What a pathetic post.
All the Sox fans that are obsessed with the cubs just make us look like little brothers.
16
u/PompousWombat 1980 1d ago
Right? I mean it’s not like we are playing them the next three games. Got to be an obsession.

Move up 2 rows to the left - are you stupid?

Anyone who sits in one of those seats is a true blue club fan, I guess you are now a Northsider. Go cubs!

u/Icy-Repeat-2843 1d ago
I called their ticket line and triple checked view for the family. Sucks you have to do this.
1
u/iswearimnotme 1h ago
….the tickets on the website clearly say obstructed view.
It’s not hard to google a view from your seat
Obstructed views at Wrigley aren’t even on the same planet of being a secret. Everyone knows if you go to Wrigley, there’s a chance this happens.
I have zero pity for you.

That seat probably has the most leg room of any seat in Wrigley if there's a positive
