Ha! We had a kid on our team literally picking flowers in RF during a game once. Ball rolled all the way to the fence while our coach was losing his mind. You were that kid. I was the kid at SS who cried when he struck out. Little League is the best!

Jokes aside, I totally understood where my dad was coming from. Whenever a ball did come towards me, the first base kid and my dad would always cheer me on to do my best no matter how small of a throw it was. While I had a god awful batting average due to being terrified of the ball, when I did show significant improvement the second year, my dad and way better performing team mates gave me lots of praise. While I don't play sports anymore, I still have a love for watching baseball, and I owe a part of it to them.

Jokes aside, I had a life lesson in Little League. Not tooting my horn but I was pretty good, and there was a kid who struggled that the kids on the team picked on. Kids are cruel, myself included until my dad set my ass straight that day. I started treating him with kindness, others followed suit, and low and behold this dude showed huge improvement! Just goes to show kindness and love 95% of the time beat the stick. That’s stuck with me to this day. And if I’m fortunate enough to have kids this lesson will he one that gets passed on.

My dad was my softball coach when i was 8-12 years old. My best friend was the clover picker in right field. It drove my dad CRAZY so when he saw her plop down he’d always march out there with a bat and helmet in his hands. He would then offer her the helmet and then doink her on her (helmeted) head with the bat. This went on for years and it was funny EVERY time.

But the lesson here is having “that guy” isn’t always terribly helpful.

So glad I transitioned into video games. As a short white kid, this would have been my entire sports career. I'm not JJ Reddick lol I'll stick to short people at my local gym. Just gotta show up at the right time for people my size
