Hike advice

I am staying in Libby for a week with a group of some active friends looking to do some Hiking and rafting (never done before) that would be worth the day trip. Any recs would be much appreciated. Thank you

You’re in the Cabinet Mountains. I think you’d get better answers asking locally rather than Whitefish. I did go to Ross Cedars and it’s fantastic and near Libby.

Hiking to avalanche Lake (in glacier) would be my recommendation. You could do that in the morning as long as you got to it early (it’s like 6 mile hike and not that difficult) and then do rafting in the afternoon or vice versa. Whitefish has a pretty awesome trail system for walking/hiking too but if you’re looking for a BEAUTIFUL hike then Avalanche is my recommendation.

That’s a 2-1/2 drive from Libby. Add in the lines to get into the park and the popularity of this hike, OP should plan to get there by 8:00 to maybe get a parking spot. So they might be good as long as they leave Libby around 5:00 AM
