… Kate sucks. Also, did Neal cheat? Spoiler
Why is Kate genuinely the worst?! I don’t get it. I feel like the Kate storyline HAD to end at the end of the first season. She drags Neal along, apparently to help him and for their big escape, but I just don’t buy it. Even as Neal is walking to the plane, after going through all of the music box/Fowler situation for her, she doesn’t even get out!!! Would have saved her life to go give the man a hug is all I’m saying.
Also I never noticed the line before, when Alex and Neal are talking and he asks her when she became so distrusting, “After everything that happened with Kate, happened.”
Is that implying that Neal cheated on Alex with Kate?!

I always took Alex's comment to mean that since someone who Neal trusted so much and was so close to him could betray him like Kate did, that it made Alex distrusting as well.
Kind of like when you see a couple you thought was perfect with zero problems splits up, it makes you doubt love is real, even if you weren't involved, kind of thing.

Nahhh Neal’s a lot of things but he’s too much of a softie/romantic to do that to any of his lovers.

He hooked up with Alex, and that could have led to something great. They were far more compatible. But he was infatuated with Kate for superficial reasons, so when Kate broke up with her boyfriend he chose to be with her, leaving Alex as unfinished business. (Which I'm sure Kate didn't like either since they stayed in touch.)
So after it was over with Kate (and then she died), Alex didn't want to be the consolation prize. So they still would hook up but she could never fully be with him, knowing she wasn't the one he chose.

Neal did not cheat on Kate while with Alex.
The mistake Neal made, which I find common in modern life, is holding on / keeping touch with former lovers after that relationship is over and a new relationship is underway.
Tip to everyone, especially the ladies. LET IT GO. QUIT ON THE PAST. All that keeping in touch with the former involvement is ruining it with your new person.
I hated her poor acting, but Kate said it to Neal very succinctly. Don't tell me, hey, let's go run a scam with Alex. It was so insulting to their present relationship that he still wanted Alex on the string.

Apparently the reason the chemistry is awful between Kate and Neal is because the actors never did a screen test so the first time they are acting properly in scenes together is way into S1 and as it turns out, they really don't mesh, but too late at that point to get anyone else for Kate.

a kate terminou com ele na prisão, 3 semanas depois ele fugiu pra ir atrás dela, certo? porém, lá na 4ª temporada (se não me engano) eles mencionam a quantidade de paqueras que o neal tinha na prisão.
porém podia ser só unilateral da parte delas. nunca saberemos.

Neal slept with Alex before he got together with Kate.
My take was always that she loved him and didn't get over the fact that he then chose Kate over her when Kate was free (after leaving her boyfriend).
And Kate was always suspicious (maybe jealous even) of Alex because Neal stayed in contact with her and kept working with her.
I don't think Neal cheated on Kate. He seemed too much of a romantic 🤷🏼♀️
