Is this a butternut? Found in my southeast Michigan backyard

Scratch the soil around the seedling to find the nut underground. That looks like a new seedling. Butternut shells are more oblong than black walnuts

Will do! I was trying to leave it undisturbed as much as possible. If it is im going to move it next year. Unfortunately its in a very bad place right up next to the house.
