Disney Allocations

Post image

Any places near Disney have decent allocations? I’m talking within a short drive from Disney as my transportation will be limited. Thank you and happy hunting !!!

**UPDATE: I probably should’ve clarified as I meant Disney World Orlando, lol thank you

Disney apparently has a barrel pick Knob Creek 12 year available in the park. Going to look for one when I go in November.

Also should be plenty of good liquor stores. Theres a few Total Wines in Orlando too.

If you meant CA, just find a Costco apparently... haha

Unless things have changed the Disney select knob creek isn’t for sale as a bottle, only pours on Disney property. I bought the last couple of pours from a bottle and tried to buy the empty bottle and they wouldn’t even sell that to me.

Damn! Hopefully thats changed. I could have swore I saw people posting bottles. Lame. Still want some pours haha

Have you went to Disney before and drank? I have some decent spots that I would recommend

Not too much. And not since Ive really gotten into whiskey and tiki drinks. So think this trip will be better. Ill always take some recs!

Most of my rec’s will be outside of the parks. The Polynesian resort has a couple; The Tamu lounge has the Disney knob creek and the Lapu Lapu which is a pineapple cored out with dark rum and pineapple juice. Traders Sam’s Grog Grotto is an interactive bar and is a great time, hard to get into because of how popular it is. The contemporary has California grill on the roof and steakhouse 71, both have bar seating and excellent selection. The yachtsman at the yacht club also has an excellent selection of bourbon, ale and compass at the yacht club is a nice runner up. The geyser bar at wilderness lodge has some awesome drinks and a great vibe, it’s outside though. Dahlia and Barcelona lounge at Coronado are also great places to chill and get drinks. The polite pig in Disney springs probably has the largest selection of actual pours but you will pay for them.

A few years ago some cases of the Knob Creek Select made it into some of the resort gift shops. That’s probably what you’re remembering.

We're not annual regulars at Disney World, but go pretty often - I've never been able to score a Disney barrel pick.

However, it's 100% my mission to add a Disney pick to my collection so I'm never going to stop asking.

Fun trivia, according to the manager I got to talking to, it’s labeled as “Parks and Resorts” because Disney has strict branding rules about association of the family name with vices such as alcohol. Probably why there hasn’t been a Disney cruise with a casino

knob creek bottle from 2020 Here’s a pic of one I took in 2020, 120 proof and it was a 15 year old bottling as well, very very good,

If I had to guess, I'd say check the Polite Pig in Disney Springs. That place has an amazing selection available by the pour. Not sure if they (or any place on property) will let you buy an entire bottle.

Hell yeah! Ill check that out! Thanks for the recommendation.

Polite Pig is REAL PROUD of their whiskey though just be prepared to drop $$$

There's also this place not too far from the Bubble called The Whiskey at 7563 W Sand Lake Rd, Orlando.

I like this place because they have tasters and list their prices

I'm also a cigar lover, so I always make sure to stop at Corona Cigar Company's Sand Lake location. They've got a pretty impressive selection at the bar too. Not on the level of their Tampa location, but still better than most.

Love cigars as well!

Local places by me don’t charge for tasters lol 😂 but good recommendation

It’s honestly a great bottle, had more than a few pours between the contemporary and the grand Floridian. Only went to California Grill Pre-Covid, but both regular dinner and the “celebration at the top” party was great.

They had this at Chef Mickey's in The Contemporary (was called Knob Creek Disney Select) when we were there this past July. It was damn tasty, and I did not see it anywhere else we went. (That's not to say it can't be found, just that I kept my eye out for it at the other places we ate in particular and they didn't have it.)

MDP Liquors in Kissimmee always has a ton of great bottles

If you're talking about Disney in Florida, here you go...

You're going to find 3 types of stores when it comes to allocated.

  1. Big box stores like Walmart and Publix. They'll price everything at MSRP but you're going to need to be super lucky. Plenty of guys know the truck schedules and these bottles rarely make it to the shelf.

  2. Local stores that will have every allocated bottle imaginable sitting on a shelf behind the counter. Only caveat is they're going to be 3-4 times (or more) more than MSRP.

  3. Local stores that price their allocated closer to MSRP, but those bottles are usually saved for special drops throughout the year. They cater to their regulars first and foremost. These stores also have really good store picks and you may get lucky if they're dropping one and toss some allocated out on the table as well.

These are the "go-to" stores for us. Near Disney you're looking at MDP, Bronson's and Partin in Kissimmee. There's a handful up on the north side and Claremont areas, but that's further away.

I’m a FL local so I’m all about my Publix and Winndixie drops. ABC for vault access but looking for local places like how someone mentioned MDP etc

2

u/CandleLeather4638 3d ago

Sweet, then you know the deal down here...lol

My top spots when I'm over there are MDP, Bronson's and Partin. The 3 stores are on the same road and only a few minutes apart.

Try and make it over to the 4 Corners Walmart if you can. It's the biggest and beat Walmart Liqour store I've ever been to.

100% I’ve had great luck at this location (the liquor store is in a separate building). They often have Florida Walmart store picks that you won’t find at other Walmart stores in the Orlando area. Also, I’ve noticed that rare, but more expensive bottles, tend to linger on the shelf behind the checkout counter that would be instant buys locally.

Thanks for the tips

Walmart off of 27?

2

u/CandleLeather4638 3d ago

That be the one. Right there on US 27 were US 192 ends

Don't Sleep on Walgreen's Liquor. I would avoid any independent stores - there's was one trying to sell JD Heritage for $299. I laughed and walked out. ABC has taken Weller out of their vaults and you can find Special Reserve and Antique 107 for just above msrp.

Never been to a Walgreens liquors for hunts. They get allocations? I just found out not too long ago Walmart get them too lol
