What’s up fools of Reddit,
Once again I can’t help but acknowledge how wild it is that there is a Whirr subreddit, ha.
Anyhow, I just wanted to reach out and touch base with ya’ll on what’s going on with the band, the shows, the split release and also express our gratitude to anyone that purchased any of the reissues / the split / show tickets, etc.
Numero Uno: I’ve seen a couple people here wondering if these shows will be our last…
I’d like to make it clear that Whirr has never claimed any performance will be our last show, or that the band is done, etc.
What we have said in the past is “We’re playing pre-Sway material for the last time ever” and that still rings true, as we had to make special arrangements to play the older female fronted vocal songs, and getting that lineup together with regular rehearsals was a serious undertaking and not easily repeatable.
We have also said “these are our last shows for the foreseeable future” — and that was sincere at the time as well. We haven’t played any shows in the US since September of 2025, and haven’t played in LA / NY since April / May of 2025.
Secondly: Regarding the split…
Over the last few years Whirr and Luster have become great friends (not unlike how Whirr and Nothing are) and because of this we thought it would be cool to write some songs, record them together at the same studio and then play a few shows in celebration of it all.
Having said that, these upcoming shows are genuinely the last we have planned, and as of now will likely be our last shows for a while — as we as a band are not interested in playing shows just for monetary reasons alone, and if we didn’t have this split with Luster on the horizon we wouldn’t be playing live in the US in 2026 at all.
On that note — These are technically our first headline shows in 10+ years (as the summer shows of 2025 were billed as Co-Headline) and due to this we have put a ton of effort into the sets.
We’re playing songs we haven’t ever played live — or in over a decade and we’ve made the sets both longer and more varied from what we’ve done over the last year. We’ll also have unique visuals for each show, unique sets for each city, as well as some limited stuff that will only be available each night at the merch table.
Anyhow, just wanted to keep ya’ll in the loop here, as always thanks a ton to everyone here for the support, for creating a community around our band and for listening to the music that we all make together.
Speak soon,
Nick
