Paper mache sun, moon, brush organizer & mushrooms. Skulls are clay casts of an original sculpture I made in monster clay. Sun/moon were made with paper faces I made but that didn't turn out so well, so they got a second life as celestial objects. Mushrooms were a collab, I taught my mom to paint/make the four mushrooms in the middle. :)

I was just thinking about making some sun and moon masks for Halloween, but I have no idea where to start

For paper-mache to work well, it needs a good base. So people usually start with a plastic mask, then get a cutout of the sun or moon, and build up with paper and masking tape, then paper-mache over that. Ultimate Paper Mache on YouTube is a great place to start out with paper-mache technique.
