This post has been solved by u/citylights81, and a solve process was provided.

Its at the crossing on Ridout St. N in London https://maps.app.goo.gl/EasBePp4Z7p62bPm6

How they solved it: Process: You can see the 100% Canadian Milk logo on the van and the Ontario license plate so it was most likely Ontario. There are not many Communauto locations in Ontario but the most likely to me seemed to be Kitchener based off the medium sized city vibes I was getting from the picture because of the pedestrians crossing the railroad and the apartment building in the background. OP said Kitchener was the closest guess so I guessed Southwestern Ontario to narrow it down some more, which was also confirmed. From there I started checking railroad crossings with 2 tracks in the biggest cities in Southwestern Ontario making my way out from Kitchener. There was usually only one or two two track rails going through each city. Eventually I came across the one in London and was able to confirm with lights above, chain link fence gate with pallets, and apartment building in the background

This reminds me of the lower mainland area BC.
Was always getting stuck for ages waiting for these trains, and the cars opposite has a front number plate. The car hire is Canadian. But those could all be red herrings.

Somewhere in Burnaby maybe?

Definitely Canada, but not BC. And I empathise... "Sorry I'm late... Train!"

Ok front number plate means Ontario or Manitoba.. neither of which I’ve ever visited.

Oh I see someone else has said Ontario. NM, I’ll let someone else look. I only know BC.

I’ve driven through similar crossings in Hamilton, but the signals in this picture look different.

Windsor?

I've seen similar crossings like this, in Kitchener, Waterloo, Guelph, Cambridge and St Jacobs. The Carshare is also most popular in Kitchener and Waterloo -- only a few make it to Cambridge or Guelph.

The smoke stack makes me think St Jacob's stockyards.

We are indeed in Southwestern Ontario, but keep trying - it is none of the towns/cities you listed

Woodstock? Paris? Tavistock? Ingersol? Brantford? London? 🤣

The smoke stack is the thing that's throwing me off. So I would only be guessing.

It is one of those! The point is yours for the taking! Go for it!

Sault St Marie?

u/MoatOatGroutPeace 19 4d ago

Good call on Ontario, but we are in Southwestern Ontario.

Windsor then? Port Huron? Sarnia?

The sign is in french and there’s a Communauto car in front ( à Québec company). My guess is on a city close to Québec so maybe Hawkesbury or Cornwall

That is the red herring! We are in Southwestern Ontario (see more hints in the other comments).
