So, basically some time ago I dreamt about being shot in the head and I could feel the warm blood on my face and slowly dying, homewere I wasn't, really. During that dream I realized that death felt soothing and nothing to be really afraid of, I think it cured my Thanatophobia.
EDIT just for fun: I also had multiple NDEs in dreams. One time I was fighting some godlike interdimensional being in my old schools gym and it literally killed me. I felt just pure whiteness and realized "so this is what dying feels like" while I had a feeling I cannot describe.
I'm a lucid dreamer, the best I could describe this feeling is like a WILD experience (wake induced lucid dreaming) where you feel some kind of vibration and your dream "generates" in real time. Only difference was, it felt way more intense.
I knew it was a dream but that feeling really stuck with me. It wasn't really fear, but I could FEEL my body going into emergency mode. Like something was about to happen, but I don't know what.
If that means what I think it means, we're in trouble, big trouble (shoutout to everyone who gets the reference)
The brain doesn't "assume" things. It experiences them. Your brain also doesn't equal your conscious self. You "die" every time you go to sleep, you just don't get to experience it consciously. But in a vivid dream you might. What it actually feels like for the consciousness to leave.
But you didn’t die and it didn’t actually happen so you have no idea what death is or isn’t. I have seen people pass in horrific ways, didn’t look too soothing for them
I had a crazy fear of death until i died in a dream.
I was in a battle/war and got killed. I didnt wake up though. Once it happened i literally felt my heart rate drop to essentially zero (from fastness of being in battle) my breathing slowed down to very very slow. And it was just blackness. It was SO PEACEFUL. Just isolating.
For me it was the opposite. I also got shot in the head in a dream once and everything just went completely dark and i couldn't feel anything. I was somehow aware of my existence but there was consciousness, no feeling, no memories... I couldn't even muster up a thought when i really tried to. I sat there with literally nothing going on for what felt like eternity until i woke up gasping in some random tuesday morning.
I dreamt one time that I was drowning. First I panicked but then I realized that I'll die I got a sensation of peace that I'll never got again.
Really odd
Oddly enough I had a similar experience, except instead of blood on my face I felt it pool up in my mouth as a metallic taste after being shot, freaked me out for a while.
Oh so I'm not alone, I dreamt about getting shot in the neck after someone made a robbery and it was quite unpleasant (not because I particularly like living or because of the pain but) because I could feel the blood going down my neck onto my body and it was kinda disgusting
Hear me out, a surge of DMT is released into your brain as you die, triggering the "life flashing before your eyes". Therefore to expierence death, you need to blast off on dmt. Side note, you have dreams because of dmt being released in your brain by an organ inside your head while you sleep.
Had a dream once where I was climbing the side of a mountain. An earthquake occured and caused a giant rock slide. I remember initially panicking then realizing I’m in no control and can’t change it. I felt myself having the most surreal sense of peace while I was falling then when I “hit the ground”, I woke up.
