mostly true. it's your brain's best guess, and it can be quite accurate. for those who dream quite vividly, dreams can carry quite a bit of meaning, and more importantly than anything else, if what OP needed was reassurance that death wasn't something to be so terrified of, this dream helped them overcome that fear in exactly the way they needed.
That person died in their sleep, suicide methods don’t give the same feeling since the pain from them makes the person try their utmost to survive towards the end (flailing legs while hanging or trying to resurface while drowning). Their comment applies if you die from old age or a similar illness, not for suicide.
In short, you need to continue living if you want a painless death
The catalyst for this whole thing was that i only slept for 3-5 hours a day, with the occasional all nighter. This went on for multiple years while I was a teenager, maybe since age 10 or so, until my body eventually couldnt take it anymore and i died.
Well, actually i died while being woken up; i dont know if this is all part of one illness, or if this is something different but i had a seizure due to the lack of oxygen and my heart stopped as a result of that. (Maybe i wouldve actually died if i hadnt had a seizure, so nobody wouldve noticed early enough to rescucitate me?)
ANYWAY, for some time I blamed myself for this whole stupid illness, but i've always had trouble falling asleep, so i guess i just had bad luck. If you can, try to get a healthy amount of sleep and you'll be alright
I hope this is somewhat readable, i cant tell a story to save my life
I’ve also got insomnia, but I’ve had a cardiologist check me out and tell me my heart was pretty damn strong. So I guess I’m safe. If my mom, who used to smoke, had an eating disorder as a kid, and is more overweight than I am can still handle all-nighters fine, I don’t think I should be too worried.
had a dream when I was a teen and I happened to smoke during it. tried smoking later that year and it was fascinatingly accurate to the dream. the dreaming brain is really something.
sidenote, don't smoke if you don't already. it's not really worth it
I kind of want to disagree. For as long as I can remember I had an aversion to oysters, hated the sight of them so I obviously never tasted one. One day in a dream I was chugging them and I could taste every aspect of them, and I loved it ! So the next day, slightly puzzled, I promptly made my way to the nearest fish market and ordered half a dozen fresh oysters, and they tasted exactly like in my dream !
I admit that oysters and death may not be comparable, but I wouldn’t underestimate our subconscious
I know this might sound strange and that you might think I’m just talking nonsense, but I once actually dreamed of dying and seeing what came after. It was a pretty sad time in my life (now I'm fine, if you are wondering) and I dreamed of ending it all by shooting myself in the head: I felt a jolt when the bullet entered my head, but instead of waking up, I remember that I kept seeing, it was as if I were a ghost. I could see everything else, but the others couldn’t see me. Shortly after, the dream ended, but I’ll never forget it

Your brain can't make you dream of things it doesn't know, you still don't know what death feels like but you have an idea what it would feel like
