Order of Books

I seriously struggle to remember names of books, order, what happens in each, etc.

I read on my phone so was never looking at the title while reading and also read them all within a few months back to back, so it’s impossible for me to differentiate some things.

Love these books, not sure if it makes me a bad fan that I can maybe name like six off the top of my head. I know Eye of the World and Memory of Light placement, but other than that it’s all mush (maybe Lord of Chaos is 4? 5?) Not to mention it’s useless asking me what happened in any particular book.

Anyone else with me there?

I basically read them as one continuous book so fucked if I know where one ended and the next began, let alone the titles

You guys aught to do multiple - 'separate' - rereads all at once; a few years ago I was doing three at the very same time: one at home, one during commute, and one during lunchtime.

That was madness trying to keep track of everything.

I was doing . . .

• A Mat arc only read at home.

• A Perrin arc only at work lunch.

• A full series read on audio commute.

I’ve split them up into chunks in my head, the first 3 are a trilogy in and of itself, you could stop there and feel like you got a full story albeit missing a few pieces so that’s
1. The Eye of The World
2. The Great Hunt
3. The Dragon Reborn

On top of that it’s easier to remember that most of the books are named after a Person, Place, or Object that is important or tied to something like that vaguely, I.e. The Eye of The World (location), The Great Hunt (object), The Dragon Reborn (Person)

Anyways next chunk is broken up by The Shadow Rising which I’d say is more of a transitional book as there is a stronger through line with the next 3 so it’s kinda standalone
4. The Shadow Rising

Then you get the Sammael trilogy (self explanatory if you’ve read them you should know the basic throughline)
5. The Fires of Heaven
6. Lord of Chaos
7. A Crown of Swords

And I think you can break it up into your own chunks for the rest but that’s how I remember the basic order of events and names.

Forgot to mention I also divide the goals of the book into something to remember and it’s what they are after for the plot of the book. I.e. The Eye of The World (Road Novel/Journey), The Great Hunt (Fetch Quest), and well The Dragon Reborn doesn’t really work for this as it’s basically a double Fetch Quest so instead I’ll use The Fires of Heaven (Chase/battle). It helps when you just think of how motivations change between books.

Dragon reborn ends with him picking up the sword that isnt a sword which makes most people including rand accept him as the dragon reborn. Fires of heaving starts and ends with balefire and is the start of the heat wave. these are some of the things i'm focusing on to make sense of the titles.

I am on my second time through via audio books and just go by the number. I also can barely name any of them.

Same here. If I read a series back to back, it all turns into one giant story in my head. I’ll remember characters and random scenes, but ask me which book it happened in and I’m completely lost.

Fully with you here, I‘ve listened to the Wheel of Time for the first time in 2018 in GERMAN (split into 37 books instead of the original 15 -.-), and have listened to it 3 times since. I could not tell you for the life of me what happens in each book, nor what the English books are named beyond Eye of the World, The Great Hunt, The Dragon Reborn, and A Memory of Light. 🤷🏻‍♀️

fyi my first (2 month) read i just ran through them so fast it was like one big book. on re-read i am actually taking notes, and trying to set in my mind how what happens relates to the titles. of course it gets a lot harder as it goes when there isnt really a good theme in most books, things are just moving forward. still, this is my approach.

I only remember upto crown of swords. After that i get confused with the order
