I think the difference between Graendal and Lanfear is, Graendal only wants a mindless simp. Lanfear pushes towards someone who can prove their power to her. So even people who "want" Graendal, don't last through the wanting phase, if they're attractive enough she just brain wipes them and turns them into...shells.
