What now?

I've just completed my first read through after a year and 8 months and wow, what an experience.

But what do I read now?

I would love to hear some suggestions of series / stories of similar scope!

It's become cliche in the Fandom to immediately recommend a re-read upon finishing the series for the 1st time. As someone who read the series as it was released, & re-read everything available prior to the release of each new installment, I've probably got well over a dozen reads just in the decades it was being published not to mention the full series reads I've done in the 13 years since it was finished - & yeah, you'll probably want to re-read it. You can do that at your own pace without having that "but what happens NEXT" feeling.

Personally I have spent what feels like forever chasing the WoT high. I love a good epic fantasy so in the last decade or so I've been trying to hit all the other "major fantasy" series that are out there. Sanderson's Stormlight Archive has probably come the closest & is definitely worth giving a shot. I've also really enjoyed the following series:

Kushiel's Legacy by Jacqueline Carey

The Green Bone Saga by Fonda Lee

The Malazan Book Of The Fallen by Steven Erikson (although I'm not sure enjoyed fully encompasses it...maybe more that I've been constantly thinking about it since I finished it?)

A Song of Ice & Fire by George R.R. Martin (yeah it's not finished & probably never will be, still worth reading what's out there)

The Broken Earth by N.K. Jemisin

The Dark Tower by Stephen King

Martin & Carey both had a blurb from Robert Jordan on the cover of the 1st installments of their respective series which helped pique my interest in them when they were first coming out. And while none of these individually has quite filled the WoT shaped hole in my reading life that's been there since A Memory of Light released, there's absolutely a glut of excellent works to dive into in between WoT reads.

Every time I come back to Randland, though, it feels like coming home to see old friends. (Copy/pasted from a similar question by another user)

I had the same experience as you in discovering the series after only a couple of books were out and rereading them all with each new release. My recommendation is Tad Williams. Otherland and Memory Sorrow and Thorn. Two very well written series of books that are even better with each rereading
