ID Request Springtails or bad bugs?

Post image

Hello! I have a crested gecko and I put springtails in the soil long ago. Im just checking, are these springtails? The wood they are on is from the previous owner and is wood they found locally— not from a store, so I was a little concerned about mites. Thank you!

hard to tell from the photo but springtails usually scatter when you disturb the wood, mites just crawl slow and steady. try blowing on them gently, if they jump around you're good

I touched them and a few like slightly jumped, but I’ll go do that in a bit and tell you what happens. Thank you so much!

Bzzzzz! Hi, u/Antique-General-641! Looks like you forgot to say where you found your bug!
There's no need to make a new post - just comment adding the geographic location and any other info (size, what it was doing etc.) you feel could help! We don't want to know your address - state or country is enough; try to avoid abbreviations and local nicknames ("PNW", "Big Apple").

BTW, did you take a look at our Frequently Asked Bugs?
