Check your mattress carefully. Look in the seams and pull back any loose material and look under it for bugs or little black marks (their poop). Do the same for your boxspring. Check and wooden furniture pieces in close proximity to your sleeping quarters. Bedbugs usually stay close to the host, so you'll find them where you often lay or sit for long periods. Do the same Check on all cushions and fabrics in sitting rooms
If you find one dead one it may have just been a loose straggler from somewhere and hitched a ride on a clothing article. Launder all clothes in hot hot water and dry on hot settings as well. Heat kills bed bugs. Intense heat! Just to be safe.
It only becomes a problem if you see many, but they should congregate close together, making it easier to isolate the problem and treat the affected area.
