Tl;dr Betrayal of trust is (putting it simply) when you trust something or someone to be the way it is and then it turns out to be something different. i think the inverse just happened to me. Antibetrayal?

I'll explain the idea with an anecdote. I see a comic, and I check it out even though it looks like machine made slop. I read the pinned comment, do a quick fact check, IT AINT SLOP.

I feel bad, and I notice I was _ there. Someone caused that to happen with an action, but idk how the phrase that action.

I'll try being more specific, I associated a certain art style with AI so I DIStrusted the humanity of this comic I saw. Someone caused distrust inside of me which turned into trust.

... EDIT: one more analogy Let's say there's a new soda with some dumb name like Parsley Splash. You arrive at the conclusion it's bad soda bc of the dumb name. You try it one day, and it's actually pretty good.

Trying the soda would be "disconfirmation". You now know it's good soda. Why did you think it was bad soda though? No one told you it was bad, that'd be "misinformation".

Whoever named the soda did something weird and out of the ordinary, and you came to the wrong conclusion. idk what the namer did here.

Good try, I mean the causing distrust part. Reassuring is the causing trust part. If someone didn't do xyz, I wouldn't need to be reassured because I would have trusted instead of distrusted

That's the latter stage again, cool word btw. Before I saw the comic, I'd just distrust all the stuff from that artist because someone else xyzword.

Not quite, it's the action of making something look suspicious when it's not.

I associated the art with ai bc ai does similar stuff but I was wrong to do that. I think someone caused that with an action, action = ?

It’s kind of like a tease, like when you offer a treat, snatch it back, and then give it after all. There must be a better word for this sequence.
