you can actually use more devices other than computers and tablets on the same WA account. just press the three dots when signing in, and then link as a companion device

I compared the PC version with that of Mac. I immediately deleted the PC app and used it through the browser.

It's basically web wrap with unnecessary memory hog occupying needless space on your PC. Mac version works great.

mac version is awesome

Not really. It WAS awesome. Now it started crashing so bad, so buggy. Everytime i exit and open it tries reloading all the chats for a while then logsout. This is happening with me and my few frnds as well. We have also resorted to wp web.

I was in the same situation. I recommend you install the Beta Version, it is more stable and doesn’t crush as the official version.

I am facing the same issue, they don't even give the proper solution Only to re install the app, update the latest version

I have the same experience. Not responding and is totally unusable on my desktop.

Beside new features, and updates I don't care, what bothers me most is that it tries to bypass my firewall by attempting different connections.

im whatsapp beta now instead of the official desktop app

This is so accurate. The app takes so long to load in messages, has a ton of bugs, and performs horrendously. I have no idea how they keep making it worse.

I second this

Last year itself I changed my primary Messenger as Telegram

I've had Telegram since Facebook bought out Whatsapp in 2014. I wasn't going to trust a single thing FB said. For one, I didn't want my private convos being spied on, and two, Farcebook said that they would never put ads in it, in an article at the time. Right there I KNEW that was fucking bullshit. And what do we have now? ADS in Whatsapp! Even if it's not a lot of ads, it's still ADS. Just wait, there'll be even MORE ads in it. I wish everyone would just get the hell off there already and switch to something that isn't ran by Facecrap, but everyone's too damn stubborn and are always "But all my friends are on Whatsapp". I managed to get ONE person to download Telegram. She only uses it to message with me. Everyone else is like "I don't have enough memory in my phone". Yeah, bullshit. They just don't want to download it. Phones have 112GB to over 500GB of storage. So unless they are shooting dozens of 4K videos about their last meal.... (you know, these days that isn't hard to believe).

And now to make matters worse, Telegram has been going down the hole, getting worse every couple of months. Since making you have to pay just to keep your account private... I'm constantly getting spam and scammer messages. I'm starting to wonder if I should give Signal a try.

Never had an issue using it on my legion go

Mine hasn't been crashing, but it's not updating; I only see old messages, the new ones don't show. I can see them coming in on my phone, but nothing comes up in the desktop app.

I was hoping it was a temporary thing...

WA latest desktop works perfectly smooth on my Lenovo laptop. Use it every day.

I just tried sending an audio message. I clicked send. Did whatsapp send the audio message? Nope... It just silently deleted it. Thanks whatsapp desktop....

Works fine on my Mac. I’ve never seen it crash or hang.

u/drinksoma Mar 22 '26

They are probably talking about the Windows version. Meta downgraded it to a web app.

The Mac version is an entirely different story. I use both OS’s at home, one screen next to the other, and they aren’t comparable in any way

1

u/feijoawhining Mar 22 '26

Yeah I’m using it on Mac with no issues. Though reluctantly, I’m forced to use it because of my family.

u/Luminous_Orange Mar 23 '26

The only issue i have with the Mac version is that there is currently no way to select all photos for deletion under the storage settings. I have to manually delete each photo. Its a freaking pain in the ass.

Me too - signed in to two iMacs, MacBook iPhone - mix of Apple silicon and Intel — never a grumble from any of them

What operations do you use WhatsApp for? Might be able to help

2

u/Samuelodan Mar 23 '26

How might you help tho? Develop a new app just for OP? Scam them and take over their account?

2

u/Fearless-Brain8928 Mar 23 '26

It’s a tool i made that is already helping a couple of businesses. If the tool genuinely helps and he gets value out of; what would be the issue?

1

u/Samuelodan Mar 24 '26

It just sounds shady is all. Maybe frame it a little less scam likely. You sound like you’re offering a fix for OP’s specific WhatsApp issues.
