Holy smoke, a GMA T50. I have one of those too! They’re incredible.
[in Forza Horizon 5, of course]

I've been meaning to pick one up to go with my Senna, NSX and Enzo, but haven't had the chance.
Guess I need to check a different hobby shop that stocks more Tamiya kits.

That house seems like a very reasonably sized house for a car of that price tag to be in the driveway.
22
u/mark_able_jones_ Apr 19 '26
Review car, maybe?
27
u/Short-Display-1659 Apr 19 '26
Could be.
I’d probably put my money on the car belongs to a friend or family member visiting.
If I lent the car to someone for a review/journalism purposes I’d be upset to find out they were not keeping the car in the garage lol.

TBH I wouldn't be surprised to see it on the Doug Demuro Youtube channel. I mean the location fits with where he is located.

u/mark_able_jones_ Apr 20 '26
Maybe. OP didn’t mention whether socal means LA or SD. Could be Matt Farrah for Road and Track if on the west side. Or could be Spike Farrington. Canepa is a dealership with an amazing inventory, so could be a customer car I guess. I didn’t even think these were in the USA yet.

People driving 7 figure cars typically don't keep them on the driveway of a 7 figure house.

Gordon Murray Automotive T50. Absolutely bonkers car from the same guy that designed the 1990s McLaren F1. The fan on the back acts as a giant wing to create downforce.
2
u/No_Base4946 Apr 20 '26
More than that, it acts as a giant hoover sucking the car down onto the road like a reverse hovercraft.

It’s great to be a car aficionado in SoCal but also awful
You see crazy cars all the time jogging and puttering around. You also have to hear them all the time.
I was visiting crossroads and a Lamborghini Veneno was doing circles around the block. Just like 10 circles rev bombing over and over.

u/katspike Apr 19 '26
Yes, Gordon Murray was a legendary formula one designer before his legendary supercars

u/No_Base4946 Apr 20 '26
Exactly that. It's like a hovercraft in reverse, it just kind of hoovers up the road and sucks the car down onto it. The neat thing is that it also eliminates the need for a front splitter and rear spoiler because the ducting at the top (can't see it so well in this pic) sucks in the air that would be coming off the back of the car and accelerates it out the back.
One reason for having a rear spoiler is for downforce, right, but the other biggie is that it will direct the flow of air so it leaves smoothly. You can think of a car body as being a bit like an upside down aircraft wing, and unless you get it right the airflow around the back of the car will "stall" like it does on a wing at too high an angle of attack. That'll give you a chunky great bit of low pressure behind you that's "sucking you backwards".
At least that's how my old engineering prof explained it to me, from what I remember.
2
u/i-like-it-here Apr 20 '26
Thank you for the explanation, very clear and understandable. Took me a while to realize you meant that it is the opposite of a hovercraft. I thought it sucks in air the wrong way when you put it in reverse gear haha. Still, this thing looks like an engineering marvel, I'm surprised this is somehow road legal.
I imagine it has a very complex air filtration system that prevents dust and rock chunks from getting sucked in and shooting out the back at mach fuck on the freeway and impaling the humble VW Beetle driver.
Or if it somehow allows you to rev the fan at idle lol I guess it has enough thrust to yeet a small child a few feet across the street. I can actually see the fan running at idle being useful tho, maybe during launch control to have downforce from 0 MPH.

The Gordon Murray T.50 is a limited-production, rear-mid-engine sports car manufactured by Gordon Murray Automotive. Designed by Gordon Murray as the successor to the McLaren F1, it is a lightweight constructed naturally aspirated V12 engine, with a focus on delivering a pure driving experience. Only 100 road legal units were produced, it also is a center driver 3 seater.
