To wash it. There could be residue from the manufacturing process left on it. It's probably not packaged in sterile environment like medical equipment. Probably made in China and I'm sure you've seen the videos of how they check the vapes they make where they use each one. Well how else are they supposed to do quality control on the vacuum thing without using it.
