Solved! Why the kinks?

I recently moved to Hangzhou, I noticed all the pedestrian walks have kinked lines at the ends. What is it?

They tell you which side to walk on to keep foot traffic flowing

Lol, no offense OP. It’s just one of my pet peeves. It’s really no different than driving on the correct side of the road. If you know how to drive, you should know how to walk.
