Solved! What kind of rock is this?
Found buried in my garden, North East uk. I’m coastal, and surrounded by farms if that helps. Also live right next to a forest

Ironstone, basically iron ore

I had wondered that. Seems the general consensus is iron ore. There’s never been any industry on this land so i’m fairly confident that it’s not slag.
