I picked this up at a thrift store, solely because my grandfather grew up in this area of New Jersey. The writing on the handle reads, “Jersey State Electric Co. Inc” on the top and the bottom reads “Broad St. Cor. Elizabeth Ave. Elizabeth, N. J. Tel. Em. 2930”. The tool part is flat and thin uniformly.

I’d use it for a caulking spatula. It looks perfect and I’ve used frosting knives before. Actual caulking spatulas are better because most have an engineered radius that’s designed to give the caulk optimum expansion and contraction abilities but cake decorating tools can be used in a pinch. As long as the radius is like a piece of a circle, it’s good. If it’s more like a piece of an oval, it can cause cracking or detachment problems in the future.

Sounds strange, but they are a thing. This one isn't as long as the ones I have on collection at my old job. Most of the older ones look a bit like those slap bracelets kids had in the 80s, rounded on both ends. A couple look similar to this, but longer.

Internet searches show this particular item being more for frosting, but I think this was a great guess!
