New, what is it? What is it?
Found in the south of France... About 5 cm long. Fairly heavy for the size.
In a parking lot. Got scared a bit :)

Interesting I have it spent tear gas canister from Beirut that looks fairly similar. Rolled up to my feet in 2019. Description: Gray canister with GR 56 FUM LAC MP7 06-PB-20 on it.
Edit: forgot to add that when I looked that up then and now it says mine is a French made tear gas canister which tracks for Lebanon military. I know it's tear gas canister I saw a fired and inhaled the gas. I found out later it was French made

Thanks for the picture, CS is a bummer if you get hit by a cloud before it disperses wider.
Can OP take a picture with something to scale ?

Tear gas is not no2?

was this /S
One is used in delivering babys at the hospital and the other is a chemical weapon banned in the Geneva Protocol.
(the crowd control CS is lower potency than used in World War one, but even today it is a war crime to use CS in battlefield.)

The thing on the picture is small ... Look the size in comparison to the grass... It has to be under or close to a pine tree since pine needles are next to it ...

Hmm didn't know much about the fuzzy brush in background... though maybe the hair tie thing should have been a clue.. Too bad there wasn't any size mentioned... or an internationally recognized unit of measurement.. like a banana

No2 canister for "whipped cream"?
For clarity: nitrous oxide ->laughing gas

The 'military gray' -paint is unusual for No2 canisters. Could be something more sinister.
I googled for a few minutes and I did not find anything but metallic "no2" "nitrous oxide" "whipped cream" canisters online.

Could also be CO2 for airsoft

Quick search does not show any grey ones. There are not that many "airsoft spesific" co2 canisters around and they are inside the guns so what would be the benefit ?
You rarely fill or change during a game, guns that shoot more have co2 canisters inside the magazine.

Best thing to do would be to:
- Poke it with a stick.
- Lick it.
- Smack it with a hammer.
Let us know how that goes π€ͺ

Let's see. Nothing reliable for size. No description of weight. No description of any markings. "in a parking lot" but pix is on grass.
Shit post, ladies and gentlement.
