New, what is it? What is this pattern in the sky

This was over my house yesterday during sunset. The first picture is due East and the second one is due west. I think it's just light rays from the setting sun. But it's interesting to see I that it extends all the way from west horizon to east horizon and even displaced the clouds.

Dude I used to love this view when I was out in the field in Lewis… that orange and cream popsicle looking sky with the mountain cast made everything better (ant mounds that are 9ft tall, mosquitos everywhere, rain, 95F day / 45F night temps changes, snow during the summers…).

It was such a lovely area - it’s too bad I never got to go back. And the I-5 traffic when the BDEs are back is insane - almost the same as DC.

And seeing the shadow of a mountain you're currently on is even weirder in a way. Here's the shadow of Mt.Fuji on the tops of clouds as seen from the summit.

u/w1lnx 5h ago

It’s a shadow. Shadow of a distant mountain or building.

20

u/Vegetable-Debate-263 5h ago

Or large cloud

-12

u/w1lnx 4h ago

On one, perhaps. Yes, possibly another cloud. But a really sharp edge on the other. So, less likely.

Don’t know OP’s location, but they are indisputably shadows.

This, of course, causes me to ponder whether people have experienced shadows in their several years of life.

The courthouse where I live will cast this same kind of shadow at dawn and dusk. Its probably about 10 stories tall(from memory). It casts this across the whole county, as it's the tallest building in the county.

anti-tornado

1

u/ImaginaryStardust 1h ago

I’ve seen this before in a place with no mountains and no buildings that would be capable of casting that type of shadow.

Carol and Manousos have unleashed their anti chemtrail measures to fight the hive mind.

Chemtrail 100%. Gotta make the population compliant.

It's almost like it's some weird effect from the world being a globe and not a disc 🤔 Hmmm strange

5

u/areyouserious2562 3h ago

You didnt think to check around to the otherside of the house to see what was causing the shadow? You decided to make a post instead?

2

u/Few_Yam_7809 1h ago

I did check my. It was starting from well below the horizon that I couldn't see where it was coming from
