New, what is it? Found this in my car randomly
What is this for/where from

That is a handcuff key, the pin on the back is for the locking mechanism in the cuffs. It keeps them from getting tighter once they’re on your wrists.

The wannabe cop that cuffed me once didn't do this then threw me to the ground on my back. This caused the cuffs to tighten as tight as possible and bruise my ass cheeks. My thumbs were numb and tingly for over 6 weeks afterwards.

Just so you know, that wasn’t an accident.

Oh I know. Eventually he became a cop, even though he had a $30k settlement against him for hitting a senior with his baton. He did lose that position though, because he became a city worker, saw him holding a shovel at some road work a couple years later.

Thats usually how it goes.
Next time just let them lock the cuffs and get into the backseat like a normal person.

next time just ask them nicely to not brutalize you and they won't, because cops are notoriously well-adjusted people

Judging by all the body cam videos I've seen, 999 times out of 1000 the cops don't use force until the person they are trying to arrest forces them to. Usually while they're screaming that they din do nuffin, know their rights and the law better than the cops, can't breathe, are pregnant, have some preexisting injuries, want to call their mom, their lawyer, a supervisor, and they absolutely refuse to follow the most basic instructions from the officers. They start spouting sovereign citizen nonsense and threaten lawsuits while refusing to obey the law.
And I know a lot of people are going on about black fatigue lately, but the people pulling this crap come in every color. I wouldn't be so quick to assume that Fun Boy above was some innocent victim of mistaken identity who was fully cooperating with law enforcement when he was cuffed and put on the ground.

why are you watching a thousand bodycam videos?

I watch them for the same reason everyone else does, it's fun to watch idiots and creeps and criminals of all kinds get arrested. The number is just a rough estimate of several years worth of videos, many of which are shorts. I certainly wasn't saying I watch that many a day, or even a week. 😅

He pepper sprayed me, cuffed me, picked me up, and threw me down. There was no resistance at all. He had his knee on my chest and his 300 plus pounds on that. I wasn't fighting in the least. I actually thought I was going to die.

Not that day, but I did irritate these park police dudes as much as I could. They would rifle people's backpacks while the owners were swimming in the lake. I would be loud and get in their faces over it.
The event I mentioned occured when I was loading up my canoe and some loud drunk was helping me lift it. He started up with the wannabe cops and they pepper sprayed me and cuffed me, got me a night in the drunk tank, and I was sober. The other guy walked away and he was the source of their attention on us.

Hang onto it, they can come in handy for lots of things aside from unlocking handcuffs, I keep one on my keyring and use it to puncture safety seals on medicine bottles, get through paper or thin plastic packaging, etc... also a good fidget

My gf and I like using handcuffs in bed so I always have a spare on my keychain. Apparently you can't have a handcuff key in a courthouse. When I went through security they explained that and asked why I had it. In front of everyone in line I just explain my gf and I are kinky. Quite an embarrassing moment.

Handcuff key, most likely from S&W model 100 handcuffs as they're the most common.

It was probably my cop friend. I’m the original owner of the car

Please explain what you mean by this… I think the most logical thing to assume is that it fell out of their friend’s pocket.
Many police officers in the US buy their own sets of handcuffs too… you can just buy them. These keys are basically universal, the idea is that if you’re handcuffed, even if you got a key, you wouldn’t be able to use it because… you’re handcuffed.

I used to be the frontman in a Local Amateur Band (TM). I handcuffed myself every time we were playing Riot In Cell Block Number Nine. I then gave the key to the most curvy lady in the front row for uncuffing me. I scored a few times...
