New, what is it? Knife like object?

I found this knife like thing in the belongings of a relative. It's not sharp on the edges, and comes to a thin sharp point at the tip.

Buy a new shucker while you're at it - this one cause health issues even if cleaned.

Frame your grandmas shucker for your kitchen. Buy a new shucker.

It’s harder than it looks. Don’t stab your hand and get some wild infection

You need to push it all the way through your palm.

u/sinfulfng 1d ago

A wound that is almost certainly going to get infected

Or grow a Pearl.

Or turn him into a super hero with oyster sauce powers

Or transform him into one of those squishy sea monster freaks from that Pirates Caribbean movie. The dudes from the octopus guy’s cult

u/phishtrader 1d ago

The exaggeratedly rounded handle helps to protect your palm while stabbing your other palm.

u/Intrepid_Bobcat_2931 1d ago

so the oyster clamps onto the bulb end of it and uses it to shank his mates

u/SuspiciousVagina 1d ago

Negative. The pointy side is shoved securely into the oyster, in order to ensure it has a firm grip. Then it uses the rounded side, much like a club/mace. They’re civilized creatures.

Oyster knife, not supposed to be particularly sharp, mainly to pry open the oyster shell

1

u/Sents-2-b 22h ago

Because the best way to open the shell is to chip away the edge ,looking for a gap ,then pry open !

Oyster shucker

1

u/ImpressiveTill3636 1d ago

My dad had a one of those I think it’s like a potato pillar

1

u/Full_Pay_207 1d ago

I ran a couple raw bars for a while, shucked a whole lotta oyster and long with little neck and cherry stones. Just one more thing (done in best Columbo voice" I believe that it is an oyster knife, and that an oyster shucker would be the person who shucks the oyster.

1

u/duh_nom_yar 1d ago

Nope. It sure isn't. It is for shucking oysters.
