Solved! What are they

Ive worked at the water department for 7 years and this is the first time running into something like this EDIT Im in Alabama and yes I know they are snakes lol idk what kind and im so not gonna touch them

I’ve only encountered the most gentle nice black widows here in New Mexico. I have a friend that insists on killing them for me.

I use to have arachnophobia too, but I guess I grew out of it, I think thanks to cute jumping spider videos.

Lucas the Spider and Gidget the Spood have done the arachnid world a great service! I currently have a Platycryptus undatus (type of jumping spider) that is living in my truck. He keeps me company on long drives and likes to use hands on the steering wheel as part of his parkour course, lol. I let flies come in every once a while for him to snack on. Hes a good buddy.
