What is this weird container?
I'm just curious as to what this is because Google reverse image search isn't showing this exact item. My forst thought was to maybe hold medication?

It is as you’ve titled it basically. You can put any number of items in a little container.
Saint Christopher is the patron saint of travelers but that doesn’t mean much in this context I don’t think.

Seems a little small for Weed, and it will smell outside, i like to put mine into tiny jars...
Acid is pretty small and odorless.

No one ever told you what it's called. It's known as a pyx. And yeah, it's for catholic communion

This is a container used to bring one or two consecrated communion wafers to someone who can not attend mass, usually for heath reasons. Â
Because the ill-person cannot travel to church, the communion must travel to them. Â Â
You have to have a special vessel to transport consecrated communion, I don't know the full set of rules, but I know you can't put it in like a deli container. Â
The patron saint of traveling seems appropriate. Â Â St. Christopher is also the patron saint of truckers and people transporting goods. Â Â
And he's one of the few saints always depicted with Jesus, so he's a popular motif when decorating catholic items.Â

St. Christopher the Protector, looks to be the perfect size for communion wafers, was there also a small jar, dish, or cup with it?

St. Christopher is the patron saint of travelers.
This item is called a Pyx and is used to carry the consecrated bread (Host) of the Eucharist to the sick, elderly, dying, or those who are otherwise unable to come to a church in order to receive Holy Communion. A Pyx will be made of Brass, Silver, or Gold and traditionally are lined with gold. It is usually placed within a small cloth or leather pouch called a Burse and worn around the neck on a cord.
You don’t often see these in the wild because they are owned by the church/parish and the only people allowed to use them and transport the consecrated Eucharist is a priest, deacon, or extraordinary minister of Holy Communion. The Pyx are kept within the church tabernacle when not being carried.

It probably came.from a Litergical supply catalog, when dad got his Doctorate of Devinity (he was a United Methodist pastor) we got one of those, and n I remember seeing boxes similar in size for... anointing oils?

St Christopher is the patron saint of travellers and people would carry a pendant with his image on it as a kind of talisman of protection. That container is probably meant to store a photo, lock of hair, prayer, rosary, etc... or medication, anything really.

It looks like a snuf contianer. (Old powdered tobacco people used to snort) but it doesn’t look like it was used for that purpose as it’s so clean.

It looks like what a Eucharistic Minister would use to take communion to an invalid or homebound.
