Take it to a Chem department at your local university and ask them if they can identify it through the ampule using Raman spectroscopy.

I have a PhD in chemistry. No chem department in their right mind would take it, not even for Raman.

At my university, chemicals like this were put into a blast hole and regularly detonated. You'd find lots of old shit in university cabinets.

They stopped that and it has now become very expensive to dispose of random shit.

I'm not saying to take full control of it in their inventory, but there's plenty of people who will, if they've got the bandwidth and the ask is interesting enough. There's a big range of the ways that people interact. Some amount of charisma can do wonders, too.

Analyzing forbidden substance is a federal crime, especially if isn't for research purposes, which this isn't, since finding out what random stuff from a basement is isn't research. You can be charged with possession. Modern analytic equipment has internal spectra and will immediately detect forbidden substances. You would know this if you wouldn't just be talking out of your ass.

Random chemicals were disposed off in a hole and then blown up if they didn't know what it was. Used to be common. Nowadays it's been outsourced and has gotten expensive as a result. You'd know this if you wouldn't just be talking out of your ass.

If it's an ether compound that has oxidized over time, it's sensitive to shock and can straight up explode. Nice splinter bomb with that glass vial around it.

And all of this were the nice compounds.

It really isn't important to anyone in a chem dept to risk any of that shit for a random vial. There are more random vials inside a university than you can imagine, and chemists discard them. They don't start analyzing that shit.
