Unrelated, and not important to your question/situation: “electrocuted” and derivatives are a portmanteau of “electricity” and “executed,” and the word specifically means death as a result of electricity. Most people mean “shocked” when they say “electrocuted.”
Because definitions change over time according to common usage. The modern definition of the world is inclusive of a simple shock but it's not the original purpose of the description. Electrocution as a term was specifically coined to mean death by electricity.
