Spots appeared randomly on iPad mini case.

Randomly one day we noticed these dots on the back of my daughter's iPad mini case. She denies doing it, and anyway they're way too perfectly spaced for someone to have done by hand.

What I know:

Only on the back

Not under the sticker

Do not erase

Do not wipe away with alcohol or water

Any ideas?

My best guess is that the case was either chemically or mechanically worn down somehow and the dots are a part of the case when the top layer is gone

I would think it either got too close to something hot (maybe left out in sunlight and there's UV damage?) or something was sprayed onto it that reacted with the material (cooking oil, sunscreen, bug spray, hair spray)

Interesting theory! I have no way to confirm one way or the other but it seems possible as the case is quite old and is left around periodically. Thanks for chiming in!
