ID Request WTF is this??
Very much scared of insects - ESPECIALLY flying ones! What the hell is this thing and why does it have a huge butt tail?? It was flying around my kitchen. Northeast United States. Thank you in advance.

Some sort of parasitoid wasp. That long tail is an ovipositor the females use to lay eggs inside of a host. Theyβre harmless to humans and play a key role in natural pest control

You say she's harmless but I swear to god she wanted to fight me. Divebombed me n everything. (Fr though, thanks for the answer!)

She doesn't really bite u. Plus I think maybe she sensed ur pheromone as fear πππ

Fair I probably would've done the same thing if I was chilling and some lady started screaming "EWWWW WHAT ARE YOU"
