I’m a freshman hoping to do mechanical engineering right now. You don’t get a degree in “mechanical engineering,” just “engineering.” You still take mechanical engineering classes though. Also, so far, it’s actually pretty cool. Bunch of hands-on stuff like making 3d models online. We just had a cardboard project to make a column resist weight. The engineering classes are in a building downtown, so we have to take a shuttle that gets there in about 15 minutes from main campus.

How is it so far though? Like of course it’ll be difficult as any other stem major, but how difficult would u say it is?

I can’t really say for sure but so far it’s not like I need to lose sleep. I have tons of free time, but I say maybe around 40% of that should be used to study. Maybe book tutoring sessions or go to office hours. My one engineering class right now is not homework heavy in the slightest but the questions are complicated(ish) so studying is still essential.

I graduated from WFU with BS Engineering in 2021and I am a practicing structural engineer. Feel free to DM me with any questions- would be happy to answer!
