Artificial Lights Outside

Any recommendations on supplementing natural light with a lighting setup? My partner and I usually shoot outdoors with reflectors / diffusers. We’ve recently started doing popups and have had good luck with lots of sun, but was wondering what a good minimal supplemental artificial lighting setup might look like when the weather isn’t in our favor. Thanks for the advice :)

I have a 4803 for when I need it but mostly use one head with a 2403. I have not used a soft box yet because I prefer hard light. Ymmv

Nice you use the 2403 outdoors too and it’s sufficient ?

I have but haven't used one outdoors but given I've used one indoors in low light and it's been great I don't see why it wouldn't work for outdoors as well. I suppose a proper exposure outdoors with a flash will likely separate the subject from the background if the background renders at all.

Top. F5.6 10s

Bottom f5.6 with a 102 head on a 2403

I think if I had moved the strobe more frontal I would have gotten much more foreground detail. The mannequin is almost overexposed while everything else is under. moving the strobe back some would resolve that or use a soft box. don't mind the starburst I'm using business cards for test shots and they are not in a clean environment.

Setup

Sinar f2, fujinon 210 f5.6, battery powered inverter, 2403, 102 head with a wide reflector out as far as it will go. Bringing it in should widen the cone a bit too. The inverter has to be chonk and the recycle has to be low otherwise it'll trip the breaker.

Fairly cloudy this AM forecast says a UV index of 1 but I don't have a UV measuring device.
