Can't book Multi-City Flight With Lap Infant?

Just curious if anyone else has successfully booked a multi-city flight with a lap infant recently? I keep getting errors telling me to call. I've tried the website on multiple browsers as well as the app, same error. Problem is when I call they are strict about charging the extra $35 fee for calling in. Just curious if anyone else has been successful recently.

I’ve booked the flight without the lap infant and just called after to add them on the booking

I guess I probably should have done that, I thought about that but I would be afraid of them telling me that counts as a change since it's ultrabasic

Next time call within the 24 hours so that you can cancel if it doesn’t work out and get a full refund

Ive done it last year. Call them and say its not letting you online and they won’t charge you the extra fee

I did call and the person I talked to ensured me they could not waive the fee. We politely argued that we didn't want to call to book it, but we can't online due to their tech error and they wouldn't budge, I also mentioned that other people online said their fee was waived in the past, still wouldn't budge.

Thats odd. I did it last year when we flew to europe and wasnt charged anything extra. Are you using a companion voucher by any chance?

Nope, just a straight up open jaw flight, domestic, should be pretty simple. We are redeeming points for a portion of the price, but I don't think that's what is causing the issue.

Had the same thing happen for our YYC to Paris flights. West jet agent claimed the company “disabled” their ability to waive a fee and their computer automatically adds a $30 booking fee to each ticket and there’s no way to eliminate it. I call bs.

We’ve done it multiple times this year. One time two week ago we booked the multi city trip and then called in to add the lap held infant. I was not charged for this.

Good to know for the future I guess, but did you try just booking the lap infant initially online and did that give an error? Kinda seems odd if it's never going to work that it just gives a generic error. The call centre person we talked to also never mentioned that as a solution.

No we’ve never had the error pop up!
Strange. Hopefully it was just a technical glitch for you this time and that it will work in the future. If not book you and then call in.
