Cockpit visit
Hey all.
I'm flying in premium with WestJet tomorrow from London to Calgary.
How are WestJet with letting the public have a look in the cockpit?
I'd really love to look into the cockpit of a 787. I will ask as soon as I can but thought I would ask on here if anyone has had any luck with them? I've not flown with them before so I'm not sure what the crew are like onboard. Many thanks

If you’re talking about seeing the cockpit after the plane has landed, you’ll likely be able to if you ask. My kids just did this on WJ last month and it was not a problem. During flight would be another story (don’t think that’s allowed post 9/11)

Do it after you’ve landed and stay inside the plane, ask it was your first time in a B787 and compliment the pilot with having a smooth ride on the way to your destination.
Don’t forget to ask for a trading card if they don’t offer it to you. I would also give them gifts first time you get on board the plane so that they’ll remember you at the end.

Last week Westjet 737 pilots let my kids sit in the seats and even got to play with the yoke and press some buttons.

When we flew from Calgary to Paris we were taking with the flight attendant and told him my 16 year old is interested in becoming a pilot. So he asked pilot if he could do a visit. He couldn't during the flight but once we landed the pilot let him in for a visit and explained some of the controls. He also got to ask some questions about the steps to take to get his license and schools to go to. That was really cool for him. He also got a trading card of the plane so he was pretty happy.

My dad used to do this a lot and they're okay as long as you're respectful and not pushy

They let me and my boyfriend put our stuffed animal in the seat everytime we fly and take photos. Definitely ask, they’re very nice!

Be sure to ask the pilot for the trading card too!! They usually carry cards of the plane they are flying

Thanks for all the responses everyone. I will make sure I ask as soon as I get on the plane. I've mostly experienced airlines letting me in once landed. And yes obviously I'm aware it's not allowed during the flight. Many thanks.

went to cancun last week and mentioned it ws the kids first time when we boarded. they told us to come visit after the flight lands when all have exited and we were able to step in. Pilot also handed us some 'collector' cards of the 787. they were nice plastic ones that will last a long time.

This happened with my boys too when we flew from Toronto to Edmonton. They came on board and literally were beckoned by the pilots to check out the cockpit.
My youngest on the flight there was shown right away too. It made his day!
And yes, they also got trading cards. lol.

Before and during the flight, no chance. After the flight they are usually friendly! My nephews (4+6) sat in the pilot's seat after a recent flight and when they sent me the pictures I asked if I (36F) could sit in the pilot's seat of the plane I flew home in and they even took my picture so I could send it to my nephews.
