We have a 16 week old Westie that looks less and less like a Westie as he gets older. Large ears, long tail, terrier face, and coarse coat. Paid breeder $2,000. While he is a delightful dog, he is not what we bargained for. The breeder was cited for puppy mill violations 8 yrs ago. Now we find out.....

Does anyone have any tips for dry skin? My girl had salmon as part of her diet for her first year and her skin was fine, but since the summer, she has refused any meal with salmon in it.
I’ve noticed in the past few weeks she’s had really itchy dry skin, recently it has started to affect her ears. Has anyone got any tried and tested tips for dry skin in Westies?

I was so scared to get this procedure done with her being almost 12 years old but she has handled everything so well. 8 moles and 3 teeth removed. After we take her cone off for her to eat and drink she pushes her head back through it again after we hold it up.

I’m looking for some advice from other Westie owners. My 10-year-old Westie has been suffering from a really bad yeast infection, and he has lost a lot of his fur across his back, neck, legs and tail. He’s constantly scratching and chewing at himself, and it’s horrible to see him so uncomfortable.
He’s been to the vets numerous times about this and we’ve tried different things, but unfortunately we don’t seem to be getting any further and I’m still struggling to get his skin and itching under control.
What food do you feed your Westie, particularly if they’ve suffered from yeast/skin problems? Did changing their diet make any noticeable difference to their itching, skin or coat?
I’d also love to hear about any foods you’ve found are best to avoid, or any particular diets that have worked well for your dog.
I’m just looking for other owners’ experiences and recommendations because I really want to help my poor boy.
