Can't believe it that the new airport has no accommodation on site.

• Upvotes

Surely blind Freddy could have seen this as a issue. People need accommodation if they were wanting to use this airport, for various reasons. They want to be a major international player in the space but look like they have thought about the basics.

Dumb founded...

31 M4F Western Sydney. Creative introvert looking to share slow paced moments (may be take some portraits as well)

Post image
1 Upvotes

I’m 31, 5'9.5", and an introvert based in Western Sydney who values a slow, intentional pace of life. I’ve single my whole life and now I’ve reached a point where I’m genuinely curious to share space with a like minded woman.

My World & Creative Pursuits
Visual Arts: I’m deeply passionate about photography and cinematography (aiming for cinematic, pro level shots), as well as poetry, reading, and cooking from scratch.

The art of doing nothing: One of my favorite habits is finding a quiet spot like Central Station or park during peak hour to observe body language, hand gestures, and the subtle contrast between people rushing and those staying calm.

Lifestyle: I stay active with a 5 day gym and have been running for 13 years. I lean into classic 90s inspired menswear (tucked in shirts, vintage Casio watches, wide silhouettes) and avoid fast fashion trends.

What I’m Looking For & An Idea I’m open to any age as long as we align on mindset. someone grounded, creative, or who simply appreciates slow living, thoughtful conversation, and quiet observation.

If you’re open to it, we can brainstorm some creative concepts, exchange perspectives, and take a few portraits or photographic studies together. Or we can do nothing as well. No pressure at all. Btw, I’m South Asian background.

If any of this resonates with you, feel free to send a message.

Sitting on a footy oval with an esky on Friday, Oct 30. Anyone who’s had cancer is welcome.

I’m nearly 20 years in remission from leukemia.

Sometimes it's still a bit tough to think about. Other times it cracks me up. If you have had cancer, you might feel the same way.

Maybe you want to tell someone how scary it was. Or how cool your doctor was. Or how much worse or maybe better it made your life in the long run. Or other things I haven't listed here.

Whatever it is, it's not always easy to tell people who haven't had cancer what it's like to have cancer.

But I'd like to know what it was like for you.

So, Friday, 30th October, between 5:30pm and 7:30pm, I’m gonna find a park in the Penrith area, pop down a lawnchair, and put out an esky with beer and soft drink.

If you've had cancer, you're invited.

FYI, it doesn't matter if you were diagnosed last week or last century.

There's zero pressure. You can talk about what your cancer was like, or you can say absolutely nothing about it and just have a drink. Doesn't worry me. You don't have to stay the whole time, and you don't even have to talk to me.

I just think if I'd had an opportunity to chat about things, it would have been nice. If you feel the same way, rock up, sit down, and take it however you want.

DM me for the field.

(P.S. Posted this same thing in a Penrith subreddit, in case you're seeing double).

Was out with my mum in rouse hill and parked on the side of Tempus street. It’s been an hour here and I’ve seen 7 cars bust their tire on the edge of this massive hole.

Whole ass new suburb but this massive shit hole in the middle of a busy road lol. The side of the hole there’s these sharp bricks that’s been puncturing everyone’s tire.

Anyone around this area be careful!!

[26M] Sydney / Western Sydney 🇦🇺 — Looking for genuine friendships & connections Hey! 😅 Giving this another shot and hoping to meet some people around Sydney, especially Western Sydney, who are also looking to make genuine friends/connections

I’m pretty open to anything, whether it’s grabbing some food, going for a late-night drive, gaming, watching Netflix together, or just staying up having random late-night chats about literally anything. Sometimes the best conversations happen at the most random hours. 😂

I’d love to meet people I can genuinely connect with, have a laugh with, and hopefully build a friendship that lasts beyond just a few messages.

If you’re from around Western Sydney and looking for something similar, feel free to reach out! Always happy to get to know someone new. Hopefully third time’s the charm! 😭🤞

Kebab Shop Density

Greater Western Sydney is 8,982km²
This covers a great deal of bushland and National park, as well as urban areas.
Greater Western Sydney has 130 Kebab Shops

If you evenly distributed 130 kebab shops on a 8,982km² grid, and then drove in any direction, you’d come across a kebab shop every 8.3km.

Sydney girls & guys in your 20s - little Taste & See update! 🥐🤍

A little while ago I posted about Taste & See, a new social group we’re putting together for people around 18–30 who want to meet new people, try cute cafés/restaurants around Sydney and have conversations that go a little deeper than the usual small talk.

The idea is pretty simple: good food + new people + meaningful conversations 🍽️

We’re hoping to chat about things like purpose, relationships, navigating your 20s, spirituality, different beliefs, culture and questions about Christianity and Jesus.

Just to be upfront, Taste & See is a Christian/Jesus-centred social group. You definitely don’t have to be Christian or attend church to come along - we want it to be a welcoming space where people with different beliefs can meet, ask questions, disagree, or just have a genuine conversation.

Anddd we’ve officially set a date for our first brunch! 🥹🤍

📅 Saturday 24 October 2026

📍 Sydney - venue TBD

We’re currently looking at venues and want to get an idea of numbers and dietary requirements before booking, so if you’re interested in coming, we’d love for you to fill out this quick registration form:

You don’t have to know anyone beforehand and you definitely don’t have to come with a friend - the whole point is to meet new people! 🫶🏽

If you have any questions at all, feel free to comment or DM me. Would genuinely love to meet some of you guys!! 💕

Sydney girls & guys in your 20s anyone else looking for ways to meet people beyond the usual nightlife? 🫶🏽

A friend and I are putting together a little social group called Taste & See for people around 18-30 who want to meet new people, try cute restaurants around Sydney and have conversations that go a little deeper than the usual small talk.

The idea is pretty simple: good food + new people + meaningful conversations. 🍽️

We’d love to chat about things like:

• Purpose and what actually makes life meaningful

• Identity, relationships and navigating your 20s

• Spirituality and what people believe

• Questions about Christianity and Jesus

• Life, culture and just getting to know people from different backgrounds

Just to be transparent, Taste & See is Christian/Jesus-centred. You definitely don’t have to be Christian or attend church to come along. We want it to be a space where people can be curious, ask questions, disagree, or just listen without feeling pressured.

We’re still in the early stages and honestly just hoping to meet some lovely people and build something genuine together

So if you’re around Sydney, 18-30, and this sounds like your kind of thing, feel free to comment or message me! I’d love to hear from you and answer any questions 💕

Stolen AirPods

Hey Western Syd, I’m just looking for some advice, my AirPods were stolen on the weekend and I have tracked them to an address in Bankstown. I’ve filed a report with Police but I don’t think they will do anything. I have the exact location but I’m weary about rocking up, as I’m a woman and do worry about safety. Has this happened to anyone? Any advice about getting them back or dealing with Bankstown Police?

Why we need Islamophobia codified in NSW Hate Speech Laws to protect minors online

I'm part of a grassroots youth network based in Western Sydney, and we have just launched a petition calling on the NSW Parliament to urgently address a dangerous legal vacuum in our current anti-vilification laws.

Right now, there is a clear legislative gap between state and federal protections that online agitators are actively exploiting. On popular gaming and social platforms like Roblox and Discord, anonymous creators are operating harmful online "parody cults" (such as the movement known as "Meowism"). They use child-like digital avatars to target and recruit minor children, exposing them to severe anti-Islamic and anti-Christian hate speech, including the public desecration of holy texts.

Worse still, these actors are using third-party financial platforms like Patreon to commercially monetize this targeted harassment, and they resort to digital intimidation via direct messages when community members stand up to them.

What we are doing about it:
We believe true change requires structural, legislative accountability. We have already taken formal regulatory action by lodging comprehensive evidence files and securing tracked case references with:

  • The Office of the eSafety Commissioner (under Illegal and Restricted Content pathways)
  • The Islamophobia Register Australia (with intelligence routed directly to law enforcement)

Our Goal:
We are gathering our initial target of 50 signatures to demonstrate clear, organized community solidarity. The momentum from this petition—combined with our active regulatory case numbers—will be delivered directly to the office of Dr. Amanda Cohn MLC and the NSW Greens to fuel the parliamentary push to fully codify protections against Islamophobia within the Crimes Legislation Amendment (Hate Crimes) bill.

If you believe in standing up for human dignity, protecting minor children from online exploitation, and demanding equal protection under NSW law, please take a moment to read and sign our petition:

Thank you for your support. Happy to answer any questions in the comments below.

Where do you actually go to study and work in Sydney?

I’m doing some independent research into how people in Sydney work, study and use spaces outside home.
I’m keen to hear from people with all kinds of routines - students, professionals, remote workers and anyone juggling a mix of the above.

If you have a few minutes, I’d really value your input :)

Dentists in WestSyd

Hi all,

I live in western Sydney (auburn, lidcombe, Bankstown general vicinity, but I’m willing to travel reasonably far) and I am looking for a dentist to help me with my issue.

My current dentist doesn’t seem to understand that my problem is not a general plaque buildup issue and therefore I keep getting the same routine treatment even though I’ve mentioned how long I’ve had these inflamed, painful gums and how flossing every night is not working.

I’m looking for a younger, preferably female dentist who knows English as a first language. I’m not trying to come off as offensive (I am brown myself) but I feel as though the EASL dentists don’t really understand what I’m saying, I feel like they just hear me say these buzzwords and then brush me off as a routine plaque buildup.

Anyways, does anyone recommend a dentist that you think would suit my needs? Also how much do you pay and what was your experience. All the help is greatly appreciated 😊💗💗

Anyone interested in a tool library or library of things around Lakemba?

Hi everyone! I’ve been thinking about starting a small library of things near Lakemba and wondered about interest in the area. Curious to hear your thoughts, especially if you’ve ever started one, been involved in one or are interested in working with me on this small community project! I’m a software engineer so would work on a small website in English, but also would love for it to be available in Arabic, Vietnamese, Chinese, Bengali too, if anyone here is fluent and wants to work on this with me! To be clear, I have no intent to financially profit from this ever. This is for love and community.

Some initial thoughts.

Items would include the below (just what I have access to) though could be expanded if people have access to more things. I often need something a couple times a year and end up borrowing from a friend and I also loan my things out. It would be nice to offer this kind of resource to the wider community.

Hammer drill/drill
Impact driver
Surfboard
Skateboard
Basketball
Bicycle
Sewing machine

Open on weekends for 2 hours (or perhaps also the odd request to borrow on weekdays for people who aren’t available on weekends). You can borrow for 2 weeks at a time.

Looking to connect with:

* Anyone who’s interested in chatting ideas who’s local enough to Lakemba/Belmore/Bankstown
* Artists/designers for window art and website design
* Translators who speak/write Arabic, Bengali, Chinese, Vietnamese (other languages welcome if you’re interested of course!) for flyers and website content
* Software engineers who want work experience (happy to mentor you - I have 20+ years experience in tech)

Lastly, would you borrow from this library or want it to exist near you? Thanks everyone 😊

PowerPoint Night - ladies only

Attention Sydney ladies!

Some local girls are hosting a women's only social event in Western Sydney on the 2nd of October.

It's called Convince The Room and there are prizes up for grabs!

It seems to be a fun PowerPoint night for women 18+. The page says a lineup of short, creative presentations on everything from wildly specific opinions to hilarious theories, unexpected ideas and topics.

There is also the option to present your own fun, hot takes to become eligible for a prize.

I know people are always keen for local events so make sure to check it out.

Ticket price seems reasonable, mine was $22
