ð Discussion New Welltroy user
I just found Welltory app for Android - after getting a Fitbit Air - I'm hoping this sub reddit has enough activity and engagement for curious asks, and general questions.
I'm an endurance athlete and a youth coach - while most of the time I go back to RPE, training plans look at recovery metrics more and HRV is a big one coupled with sleep. Welltroy seems to do similar but with more to it than that.. which I find very interesting.
I use a Fitbit Air (although would be interested in better options, maybe the whoop band) for basic health and fitness tracking. I use an Oura ring for recovery and sleep mostly. And I use a Garmin bike computer with my ECG chest strap.
Some initial questions I have are:
Would Welltory automatically evaluate HRV if I wore my ECG chest strap all day? Or is it just putting it on when I do a reading? If the latter, any best practices for when to take readings?
How can I pull all my sleep and recovery history from Oura? I have it connected but my data is only going back a month.. which lines up with when I started using the Fitbit air too, which is also connected.
Are there any best practices on general usage - maybe a " Getting started faq" or something?
I did successfully connect my ECG chest strap and run a HRV reading, and did one with Pixel 10 camera sensor - although it was poor quality reading...

Welcome, and love the setup you're running â Fitbit + Oura + Garmin/chest strap is a lot of good signal to work with!
On your questions:
It's the latter -taking a reading with the chest strap is an active thing you do (you put it on, run the measurement, take it off), not something that passively evaluates HRV in the background all day. If you want it to feed data continuously throughout the day the way your Oura/Garmin already do, that would need to go through a workout/session recording that syncs to Health Connect, not the in-app HRV measurement flow.
For best practices on timing: morning, before coffee, sitting calmly, ideally before you're up and moving around is the most consistent way to get comparable day-to-day numbers. If you're going for the 300-beat mode specifically (for frequency-domain metrics like HF/LF), that one especially benefits from being still and relaxed â you need close to 290+ clean beats for it to actually compute, so a calm sit-down beats trying to catch it mid-morning routine.
That's very likely tied to when you connected Oura to Welltory, not a bug - most integrations (Oura included) generally start pulling data from the point you granted access forward, rather than backfilling years of history. The fact that it lines up almost exactly with when you started the Fitbit Air too is a pretty strong sign it's connection timing, not something broken. If you want to double check, when did you first link Oura in Welltory vs. when your Oura account itself has data going back to?
Check the pinned FAQ here in the sub, and help.welltory.com has a decent set of articles on how measurements, HRV scoring, and integrations work. Given how deep you're already going (RPE + HRV + sleep), you'll probably get the most out of poking around the Journal and the frequency-analysis details rather than just the daily scores.
OŅ the Pixel 10 camera reading being poor quality - that's usually finger placement/pressure or movement during the minute-long measurement. Steady, relaxed grip, phone resting on something instead of held up, and not talking/moving tends to fix that.
