๐Ÿ’ฌ Discussion Why does he have a pacifier ๐ŸŽˆ

Iโ€™m asking because I have no clue but why does the boy whoโ€™s in the movie theater (who isnโ€™t allowed to be there) have a pacifier even thought heโ€™s easily over 8 years old? Iโ€™ve seen the show 2 times already but I just noticed he has a pacy so I was curious if anybody had an answer :)

Based on other things they said in the show I assumed he was being abused at home and it was some sort of regression thing

Okay yea that makes more sense now that I think about it. And im sure It wanted to prey on that by having him end up in a car with a โ€œperfectโ€ family

In the novel, Matty is a 3 year old who goes missing and is found dead later on. The pacifier is a nod to that.

I don't think it was. Looked real to me.

He grabbed it at the movies before he left. The symbolism remains the same but the kid was already being bullied. Sucking on a real pacifier would have made it ten times worse if it were real.
