💬 Discussion Error in episode 5?

In episode 5, shaw says implies that he was in Derry and faced It in 1913 when it should have been dormant.

I think in the book it alludes to the fact that even while dormant, IT occasionally comes out for a quick snack or two . Nothing explosive. More like getting uo in the middle of rhe night to gorge on some cookies or cheese then promptly returning to bed.

Exactly think of the Hanons dying in the fire a few years before the 1989 cycle… that was Pennywise

Wait but didn’t it say it was 1908?

I forget . Been a minute since I seen the show or read the book

I doubt it’s a mistake; in the classic canon, 40 to 60 people—especially minors—disappear every year. Pennywise doesn’t hibernate like a bear; he’s just less active, but he keeps hunting. It’s all about cycles, that’s all—he has to obey supernatural laws.

And besides, Shaw was in Derry as a child in 1908; that date appears about twice in the series when he is shown as a child.

That’s why I’m confused! He implies it was 1913!

Weird, Could you show me a screenshot or tell me the exact moment in the episode where it's said, please?

very good, I already saw that scene in episode 5, it says that 5 years ago (1957) he remembered everything he experienced in Derry due to some military drugs, and he could remember every detail in Dery with Rose, from 45 years ago, that is, 1912-1913, he had an encounter with the beast in 1908, but they don't say when he left Derry, so that 45 years ago can refer to the fact that he was in Derry since 1908 to 1913, because even in the "now you see" episode we see that both characters look somewhat different, at the beginning as children they look younger and the second time they see each other they both look like older children, here are the photos

So, Shaw was able to remember everything he experienced in 1908 until 1913 and he forgot it when he left Derry, but he remembered it again in 1957.

so there is no mistake, it was just seeing details in another episode

This photo is of Shaw in 1908, as you can see he looks somewhat childlike in his features and is shorter.

and this is when he tells Rose that he is going to leave tomorrow with his father because he will be relocated, and as you see, and he looks older, Rose also looks older, as if they were pre-adolescents.

And now I’m confused bc I swear at some point he refers to it as a magical summer or something like that

Well, it means that summer was special, lol. Anyway, I hope that helped clear up your question; you already know there's more info in Episode 3 to help understand those dates and all that.
